Gang Green 68 GTS

Hey Mitch....make it back OK?

Denny

Yup, No worries. I was at home by 7:30pm. Stored those quarters in the enclosed trailer with the 70 Cuda project, to keep them safe. Hope they don't try try to jump on that car while there're in there. LOL

Great build page, thanks for all the updates and progress pics.

I had warm temps here Monday and Tuesday so I rolled the Dart outside so I could sand on it. Makes way too much mess in the Shop to do it there. Working on filling the rust pits after blasting and rust-preventative. I thought I could get it all done in and in primer in those two days, but I failed. More hand sanding than I thought to get all the inner/seen panels smooth after applying the rust preventer with a brush. I have new respect for body men now. Also got most of the suspension and disc brake parts rebuilt and painted. Installed all of the control arm bushings and ball joints. Still need to get the K frame and the strut rods and stabilizer bar out side to blast. I'm hoping next week it will warm up a little so I can roll the car out and get it in primer from the doors forward. Then to cut a few pieces of metal out and replace.

is that the same stogie from a couple weeks ago?

A little update. Finally got the engine bay smoothed and sanded out and shot some primer last week. Also ordered a kit from Firm feel to rebuild the fast steering manual box. Started to teach myself how to weld adequately this week also, so I cut out some metal in an UNSEEN spot and boogered in some patches. I think I needf a little more practice before I move on to the seen areas. Need to download some pics of the welding work. Stay tuined.

Worked on teaching myself to weld better last week. Spent hours watching You tube. Then spent a couple afternoons practicing on scrap metal. Then made the leap to the car itself.I addressed an area that is hidden by the fenders to start. Cut out some bad metal and fabbed some plates from the roof section I cut out of a 68 Satellite parts car. Please go easy on the critique of my welding. It take lots of practice apparently. Few more areas of concern and then to spot weld in the new inner fender.

Sold the RR because I ran out of space. Have this GTS project.
And....... I have a 70 Cuda 383 4spd numbers car also to do.
My Plate is Full !!!

I like your taste in cars! That's a real nice project . Take lots and lots of pictures, being that car looks to be somewhat untouched. I say somewhat because I can't image it wasn't played with a little bit? Keep us posted and good luck!

More progress yesterday. Welded a patch on the right inner fender. Thought I could patch a few holes I found in the rear of the right front frame rail . The more I poked around, the more I realized that I needed to weld on a frame cap. Worked out pretty good. Also welded in the new right inner fender. Hope to get all the welds cleaned up and primed, so I can paint the engine bay in the original GG1 Dark Green sometime next week.

Were all to speechless Mitch!! Your doing a great job in my book and after seeing your ex Roadrunner, I can't wait to see how this one's going to turn out.

Looking nice Mitch. I'm getting ready to cut my inner fender panels out and work on the upper control arm mounts. POOR design. A true dirt and muck catcher around those things. What kind of welder are you using?

I have a Clarke , I believe made by Miller, Mig machine. The have an Eastwood Tig unit. Still learning. Also had to weld plates around the same UCA mounts that you are talking about.

Mitch,
Where did you get the dolly setup on the front of your car? I need something like that for mine.
