I'd like your thoughts on this 360

My 72 Gold Duster was stock when I got it. 318 ,904 ,7.25 with 2.76 gears. Manual brakes, PS , no air. Had about 85,000 miles on it. Put in a cheap replacement timing chain, replaced one sticky lifter, bolted on an old ld4b with a 650 DP and some beat up Heddman headers. Stuck in a recurved electronic dist and orange box. Added 73-76 style disc brakes on front. Bolted in a 8.25 rear with 2.45 gears. Rear came out of a rusty 75 Dart we got for 100$. I put 15x8 rallyes on the back with 275/60s (28 inches tall). Ran 16.07 at 86. Shifted around 4500. Don't remember 60ft. I will have to look for the et slips. I have the car completely apart now to redo everything.

I understand what you are saying, But if you can 60ft that at 2.1 I think I'll dynomite my car to smithereens, lol. If it doesn't spin,Ima thinking you'll be measuring the 60 ft with a sundial. If it spins just one wheel, you'll probably be a bit quicker.
And then there is the small matter of "fine". But I know that's subjective, so I'll try to leave it alone.

I ran 15.9's with a factory bone stock 318 2bbl, auto, 2.94's in a B-body :)

Hey all, I did the dual exhaust today out the back. Went out and played around, I was impressed. :D

Better buy some dynamite! :poke: Cause I was playing around this evening and I think I'll get 2.1 60 ft no problem! I've asked others what they thought, and enjoyed their responses. After playing around with some complete exhaust on it finally, I'd be surprised if this car doesn't go 14's.

Well good luck then
Factory 340 4-speed Darts in 1971 were turning 14.4s on street tires. At 3330 pounds. 440 E's weren't much quicker. I always pictured E's as tanks, next to my Dart.
But the consolation was it spun two gears right out to 6300,or more, and trapped in third gear, at about 6300. Then you could drive it home with the 3.55s at under 3000.
Lemme know. I'll have to pull the GVOD out first, lol

Them 2.94s are practically racing gears compared to the 2.45s.:)
I hear ya.... I got 2.45's in the in this Duster now....

First chance I get, it's going to the strip, maybe next Saturday? Keep in mind, time slips are no new thing to me, and if the car was a dead pig, I'd say it and prove it with a bad E.T. slip.... :) But regardless of how it looks on paper, I'm going on how the car went today, and I will be surprised if this car doesn't go 14's with a 2.1 60 ft

Exhaust is done, and now I'm just getting it ready to pass tech. Hope to make a pass the next chance I get, which may be this coming Saturday. The old eddy 600 that's on it seems to be running really good. Should be fun!!! :D

Shooting for tomorrow..... I'm really excited (don't take much :) ) to see. Been play'n a little with metering rods, springs in the old eddy 600. Found a kit I forgot I had... LOL. Timing (for now) is at 18* initial, and about 36* total. I don't think it gets to total till about 3500 rpm's or more (I don't have a tach in it yet). It's a starting place.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you do. I love to see the low buck stuff.
Me too. I'm only worried about one thing.... and that's hooking up. I know things look real bad on paper, but the car just doesn't know how to read... :D
I just got in with it, marked some hillbilly timing tape with a paint marker ....LOL.
.......... If only it hooks........ if only it hooks.....

LOL.... We had a fun day. Wasn't many there, so I had time to make runs and I was wishing I'd brought a few things with to try. Today, without the bracket races (test-n-tune only), I could have had all the runs I wanted. I made a few passes, played a little with shift points (no tach, using speedometer) and timing.

A couple of questions that you may have answered.
Did you verify the 2.45 gear?
Stock 904 converter, stock in what? (So we can go buy one)
Is this 360 LA, or Magnum?
Still impressed!
