I was cleaning up my '65 Formula S wiring harness and came to the map light, which had a bulb base stuck in it, but the glass was broken/gone. After a short struggle with a pair of needle nose pliers, I was able to push down and twist the brass base and pull it out.

The lamp I pulled out was a single terminal #67. The map light has a twin terminal socket (yellow and pink wires) and requires a #90 double post lamp. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I got a bit of a bulb surprise myself the other day.
The Wifes 72 Swinger right side fender signal indicator was missing it's wire so it obviously didn't work, and when I pulled it off the car to fix it there was this itty bitty little bulb in it that looks like a mini flashlight bulb.

I remember my friend, Brian, coming by with his 62 300, complaining that his dash lights were acting weird when he stepped on the brakes. Somebody had replaced the brake/tail bulb with a single contact/filament bulb, which was contacting both bulb socket contacts. When you stepped on the brakes it would backfeed thru the tail light wiring and light up the dash.

Been working on old cars for a long time and it always amazes me what people have done to these cars before I get them.

The dual terminal #90 mini-lamp I mentioned in post #1 is not working. I noticed the "teeth" on the socket base are actually scraping on the body of the lamp socket when I insert the lamp or remove it. I checked for power at the hot wire and continuity for the ground wire and found everything A OK. The courtesy lamps in the sail panels are working fine, also.

I tried two different (new) bulbs but nothing doing. It seems with the insertion and twist the contacts don't line up (not sure). Is there an alternative (similar) bulb that might fit the ticket? Thank you.

Update: I found the problem which was ignorance on my part. I was thinking the yellow wire that also goes to the door switch was a hot wire, but it is actually the ground wire. That means the #90 mini-lamp is working after all!
