Favorite local restaurant?

Place in St. George, Utah, called....Georges. Best hot sandwich I ever had. But that aint local. I dont get home cooked as much as I like with 3 boys all in soccer and school and different schedules so I enjoy the home cooked stuff.

Sol Azteca is a local Mexican chain that I love. Favorite local American restaurant would be a local owned joint called Slappy’z. Both of those are in Russellville, Ky.
Coolest local restaurant is a real retro type soda bar/restaurant in Elkton, Ky called L&R Soda Bar

This is Portland Oregon I'd have to get a little more specific. We have way too much cuisine and food places here to think of only one place to go. problem is it's a hard decision whether to get a Killer Burger and Foster Burger or one of the other two or three Cuisine Burgers. Then pizza oh man where do I start okay Flying Pie my good old family standby. But American Dream Pizza blah blah blah or wait a minute I forgot there's no good food around here don't move here it rains a lot actually it was a beautiful sunny day LOL

Mi Rancho, Yuma, AZ. Very good Mexican cuisine and their free chips come with the best salsa I have ever had.

Poe’s on Sullivan island just outside of Charleston. One of the few places I can get a rare burger done right.

Hard to nail down a favorite in Charleston, it is a foodie and boozers slice of heaven.

you have a Flying Pie in Portland ? Joe Leavich started them here in Boise in the early 80s . or at least I assumed ?

little place called the alpen rose
european food, real nice looking place, and even though they serve alcohol its the only place in town that doesnt feel like a bar

Wow, hard to name just one...lots of great places here in Orange County

Mexican - there are two in old town Placentia that are really good but we prefer 'El Cantarito'. Not fancy but excellent traditional 'South of the Border' food.
Online Menu of El Cantarito Restaurant Restaurant, Placentia, California, 92870 - Zmenu

Ribs & BBQ - 'The Tulsa Rib Company' in Orange. Again, not fancy but outstanding baby backs and big beef ribs and their "Tulsa Potatoes" are special.

Burgers & Stuff - You can't beat 'Heroes' in Fullerton. Our favorite bar and we don't drink! Huge portions of really great food. We've gone there for dinner if we're not super hungry and split a half-order of nachos and not been able to finish it.

Although I like a lot of local places, I'll go with the places I frequent most. Harvest Café, open for breakfast or lunch only. Jacks Diner, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Good home style cooking. I believe they opened in the late 50's. Old chrome diner with a later addition. Both are mom and pop places. I also like Tijuana Flats for Mexican food. I'm getting hungry!!

This is a funny one, my favorite "local" place isn't so local anymore.
The Habit Burger started in Goleta in 1969, 1996 they open their second location, that was when I found them.
Now well over 250 locations on the west and east coasts.

In Lompoc we also have Tom's (Burgers), Taco Loco (Mexican), Hitching Post (Steak).

About

Ty has handed me many a pizza LOL over the last 30 years. I go to the original one on stark since we were young. I can't remember anyone I know not having a birthday party there including my son's myself. I've taken my dad and his wife there and they love the pizza. When my mom came up from Michigan she loved the salad bar the most. It's a place you know that has the upside down table set for two on the ceiling. Pictures of people enjoying themselves with their family and birthday parties over the last 30 years. They two hand toss the pizza in front of you. A young happy staff. A very nice clean simple salad bar that has never disappointed.
The little main dining area has an old fashioned store front. Three foot high wall with glass to within a couple feet of the ceiling. A little coved area on either side of the recessed doorway. One side has a ms.pacman table and the other side a table for two in the window. Try to go after the lunch hour before dinner rush and get that table for my wife and I.
Pizza/calzone/pizza hoagie sandwich- served on an round aluminum Pizza sheet. On the table of course is the little metal rack to put your pizza on to keep that big aluminum tray about 10 inches off the table which is the perfect spacing to put the little old-fashioned Diner candle underneath to keep the center of the aluminum warm thus your pizza warm.
And did I say I like this place? LOL

looks like it was started here in Boise by the Parkers in 1978 then sold to Joe Levitch in '80.

Parkers moved to Portland and opened another Flying Pie...
That 1st store is still there on Fairview Ave here in Boise.

Interesting... small world...

The Habit in Goleta still the best. Hitchin' Post Casmalia. A J Spurs. Kay's Orcutt, Ellen's Buellton, Mother Hubbard's Cupboard Buellton for breakfast. McClintock's up in AbodyBomber's neighborhood. Cajun Kitchen Lompoc.

Fav local dive...
Shantytown. Weekly burger specials, small and close to the house. Best dive bar in the Cities and a bit of a motor head hangout.
Cant tell ya where it is.
then ya' all would be sitting in my spot.

We have lived here in Arizona for 7 years and we have yet found anything that says "come eat here" If we go out we prefer Mexican or Pizza or good shrimp. In my hometown Greeley, Colorado we had the Armidillo Mexican with to die for Mexican Turnovers, Fonta's Pizza ( we like thin crust) and JB's Drive in for Shrimp. If I'm in Oregon I go to a place( can't remember name) in Depot Bay for Clam Chowder.

The best eats from may to september. Say for the last 15 or so years. Good, fast and cheap.
Wienerschnitzel and taters is my favorite.
Was a year round restaurant, but now a summer food truck, parked in their front yard.
Never had such good meals consistently. Ever.
Jennifers in 7 sisters,Manitoba.

Now you've opened up another can of worms here in Oregon LOL which great legendary seafood place do you go to when you're in Depoe Bay? Or anywhere on the coast for that matter. Moe's? The Sea Hag LOL the Chowder Bowl....
I probably only been to one of the above-mentioned and that was probably 35 years ago when it wasn't as legendary and as popular lol it takes reservations or huge patients to get into those places sometimes on the weekends or holidays.
I found the only problem with eating out around here is having enough money to do it and trying to think of which place to go to next? You know instantly the thought of "the Miss Delta" on Mississippi Street down in North Portland oh boy the barbecue LOL I'm done....
