What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Mine is 8 thousands over deck on one side and 4 thousands under deck on the other, about 10 psi difference in compression from one side to the other if I remember. Can't imagine the rods on one side being bent. I am not a a mechanic and am learning thanks to all you guys on this site.
Well it's not crazy to believe the rods are Maybe couple thou longer than one another... then figure the block wasnt measured to square and true height..and was just decked, so that it's still. 008 proud one side compared to thee other and even shorter than should be on the other.

That's life...and it teaches us tons 'after the fact' dont it? Lol

Would hope I can get it closer than what it is. hope to have it apart this weekend.

In the process of installing my Smith Brothers custom pushrods and locking adjusters, today I finished facing the rocker arms for the adjuster locknuts. As I was finishing up, USPS delivered my order of adjustable pushrod and said adjusters. I assembled the rocker arms and read the effective length needed for the pushrods for my motor. I will be the first call to SB in the morning to complete the order of my pushrods and take another step towards valve train geometry bliss.

I read the required length of four intake and four exhaust pushrods and logged them. Two sets of readings were the same and there was less than .010 total difference in the eight readings. I called SB this morning and my custom correct length pushrods are on the way. Hope to have the car back together by the end of the weekend or Monday at the latest. After all, it's not like I have a job or anything:)

More cage paint.

Bent some 1 3/4 tube into frame connectors, then changed the die over to 1 1/4 to start the drive shaft hoop.

Got my new correct length pushrods yesterday and today I installed them with the new locking adjusters and started my car. Nice & quiet now and running good. Got my carb rod and spring kit but I will hold off an any changes until I drive the car a bit with the new valve geometry to make sure all is good.

Dropped a 360 at the machine shop for studs, line hone, square deck, bore n hone.

Tomorrow sending the cam off for a polish.

4" motor

Not a lot of room for the tire to grow on that.

That's one bad *** car tho.

Looking forward to seeing how the 4.88 work with the turbo. Are your thoughts that the gear will get it spooled up? I'm guessing 1/8 mile car?

Very interesting build.

Aloha. Will be a lot of trial and error, we still learning. We keep the heads on the 440 to a 1976 stock comp. but good steel crank and forged pistons ,so we could get a good boost. If that make sense ? Haha
Just about got it dialed in and the turbo leaked some oil . So off it comes. Hope to install rebuilt one this week sometime. Aloha & Mahalo from The Big Island of Hawaii, C

Well after a pot of coffee and feeling a little frisky, decided to bite the bullet and started to pull the headliner down and out of the car. Sure glad I laid down some plastic first..... mouse condo demolished.

I don't know how my cars feel, but I feel terrible that I had to put them in storage, but I'm glad they're inside out of the elements. Gravel floor, not the best, I'm getting tarps to lay down and drive onto. Should be able to squeeze one more in there, if I need to.

Still working on the coach! Wash and wax today, damn I am tired! Polished the 22.5 wheels on the curbside as well! They look as nice as the centerlines on the Barracuda! Gotta look good for T’Giving at the parents with the whole family showing up this year for once in a very long time!

still whacking on the sheet metal intake for the 273. Got the rails done today, mocked up the mounts, put the sensors on the TB and stuck it on......making progress, then ran out of fasteners. So I cleaned the block of garage dirt, pulled the pan and found a fender washer and a small bolt in the pan! Must have fallen in when the valley was uncovered. Shot some red on the back of the block where I missed on the first go round.

Well it appears that car season has ended here. Saturday, I took the Duster to go look at a trailer I am going to buy. It included some gravel road and a trail across a pasture. I felt like the Dukes of Freaking Hazzard! So now it's in it's garage waiting for me to rebuild 2 snowmobile motors. This weekend I remember how much I hate working on newer snowmobiles.

Once I'm done those, I'll assemble and install my 4.10 SG 8 3/4 rear and install my higher stall torque convertor. Just that and a million other little things I noticed driving it over 5000 miles this summer.
