That makes sense. Then the answer to prevent the flash rust is to neutralize the acetic acid (vinegar) with baking soda before removing the metal from the solution and then quickly rinse using clean water and dry the part.

The oxidation is occurring because of the sudden contact with oxygen while the surface of the metal still has acetic acid droplets on it.
Zep purple is ph 13-14. Tools were still greasy. figured I could kill 2 birds with one stone

I have State Farm. They would do it, but said I would have to pay my deductible that way. If the other guy admits fault (which he already did to the cop) Progressive should cover me 100%
That's interesting although pretty similar to how it went down with the Barracuda.
The other driver's insurance sent an adjuster to look at it within a couple days. Told him to go back to the body shop it had been at, and he was fine that in the circumstances. If it had been unrestored or just a not quite so old car, maybe i twould have been different.

PA recently eliminated using date stickers on the plate for registration
The times I put them on the plate were rare. When I did it was usually late in the year and even then scored them up so they wouldn't come off intact.

I've got a small collection here for when people start looking for date correct plates from late 90s - 2017 LOL

My front plate. Not legal in Iowa.

weather forcast is much better for us now. Looks like mostly rain and the termperature won't drop below freezing until a couple hours after its done. So maybe, just maybe it won't be a mess or black ice situation.

I know many on here buy and sell parts on a regular basis, I applaud your efforts. Holy smokes when I made mention I had a spare Aero pump on here to help a guy out I got multiple requests to sell. Those that know me, realize I got no side hustle selling parts! In fact I have never sold one in my life via the web. I was not prepared! I didn't even really know how to go about it. Something you guys do in your sleep was totally foreign to me. I just told them if they give me their word they will send a check, I will send a tracking number.
You would think I would have learned after the guy that sold me the Demon totally flamed me from afar. He removed carb, fuel pump, battery. Etc etc. and sold me a running driveable car! Anyone curious it was Brad Sargent in Michigan. What a POS. Lesson learned for me.

Not foolproof, but Paypal really simplify the process

Wow. I've only done so-so on FABO want/sell ads. Done better with ebay, etsy, abd people I actually know (which includes this crowd).
The alternator pulley came from Mancini. I mail ordered from them long before using their webstore. They had a newspaper style low-buck 'catalog'. I think I started using them for Mopar Performance parts when Kohler Dodge basically got out of doing that.

True. But I still do check sometimes.
Money orders and bank checks are a pain these days. Both require standing in line for ridculous wait times around here. Then the fees. grrrr.
I *think* TD may still waive the fee for money orders if you have an account, but not for bank checks.

I have bought and sold quite a few parts here. There is still some risk but we are a small group compared to the internet as a whole or E bay. I will say with Ebay and PayPal there are safety measures in place to protect both parties.
