I want to strangle my kid. (No, not really strangle.. but a payback is in order!)

I dont get mad,i get even. By screwing with them a little bit.

Buddy’s son looks up to me,comes and hangs out while i work on cars, i let him bring his vehicle in and work on it.
Long story short, he gets into spats with mom and dad and doesent help out around the house. So we had a good chat.
Something along the line of knock that **** off,you owe them, not the other way around.
If you keep it up, you will some day regret it.
That's exactly what I want to do.. I'm not mad.. but getting even is in order. I like the post about him making her breakfast with a fresh rose.
BTW, You're one of the 'read this!' guys to me on this forum. You post good 'been there, done that' stuff. And for that, I thank you!

Got the radio on.. and what comes on as I walk back in the garage is Heart's 'Barracuda'. And my redhead 15 yr. younger wife than me is hungry, so I have to go fire up the grill for her.. so night guys. Take care of yourselves first... and those Mopars!

Well I be pretty happy! I did not want to be the life of the party. If you want to post this personal **** do it on face book. This is a classic car forum, not a HOW TO RAISE YOUR KID forum. Your the dude that screwed up, and if you would reread you own post you would know that. My kids are grown up, with no meds but I did own a switch and it worked. Be firm and stop making excuses.

Gimme a break. General discussions is exactly that. Nothin specific. Yes, this is a car forum and i respect all the members here.you should perhaps do the same. I know people that care for these kids, some much worse off than RSie’s son. The man deserves a little more respect than you give him. Perhaps you should comment on topics you are a little more knowledgeable in. Be mindful of your words, sir.

Any time my 15 year old gets out of line with his mom, I not so gently remind him that there’s always the bus to ride to school and back, and if he misses that, it’s only a couple miles to school. That usually sets him back to “be nice to Mom” mode!

That's why I posted it in the general forum.. not in the specific forums. Good Christ, get a clue guy.

If you think I didn't discipline my kid, you are mistaken. I didn't need a switch. **** off, asshat.

As a young adult I can remember twice that I really screwed up with my mom.

Once when I called her on her birthday to bail me out of jail. (That flew like a lead brick...)
And another time I got in trouble with the police at a "local" park. The cop told me to call someone and have them pick me up. Well I called the wrong person because she told him, "you make him walk home!"

We lived about 10 miles from the park....

The officer kept my keys and handed me back my driver's license, looked at me and said. "Looks like you got a long walk, better get started..."

It took me about 8 hours to get home. Then I needed a ride to the cop shop to get my keys....

Yeah, not a good time....

But I never forgot......:BangHead:

That's a good story :)

So, the kid got home, as I was grilling some burgers. I didn't see him come home. I got in the house, jumped on his ***..and he'd already apologized... and the wife told me he tried to before he left, but she was so pissed it didn't go anywhere with her. He still owes me one though. I told him as much, and he was all 'no! it's good!'... still not gonna let it lay that way.

You actually sound pretty immature to me. Be the adult in the House.
If you think I never disciplined this kid, and he had consequences to his actions, think again. A good swift kick in the *** was never not an option that didn't happen from time to time.

So, the weather forecast for today looked beautiful, so I was thinking 'Great! I can get out in the garage and get busy!'
I get up early, get some work done in the quiet hours before the wife and kid get up.
The 16yr old boy comes downstairs, had a little chat with him how his high school dance went the night before (which I went way out of my way to help him get ready for.. but that's a different story!).
The wife wakes up, and before she can get a sip of coffee down, the kids gets into a huge argument with her, by being a jerk. It ends with the wife saying 'great, now I'm gonna be crabby all day! Then he toodles off to work for 9 hours... thanks man!
So. I break out the honey-do list. Got a ton of stuff done.. I got her to smile after replacing the kitchen faucet, which has been on the list for awhile.. and I made it out to the garage! Yay!

Now, to figure a payback.. I can't let him get away with this no repercussions. I'm open to suggestions...

Next time don't stand by idle when the kid is arguing with your wife and I guess his mother.
Honey do list is for husbands who can't get it right the first time.

Times must have changed. My father would have given me a really mean look and said, "Shut the F&@# up." That would have been the end of it.

Times have changed. No longer is the threat of an instant violent beating a thing for most kids.

Did it make me respect my father, no.

Will I beat the literal pis out of my kid, no.

Did I listen whe pops spoke or just looked at me wrong, YES I DID.

40 plus years later my jaw still clicks.
I was the middle son, that particular day it wasnt even my fault. I was the closest.

So, jump in and tell him he doesn't have to listen to him mom is the better choice.. ?

It would have been with me. This is not a 'normal' kid.

So, all the **** that needs to be done, that she thinks she can't do, is for a guy that can't get it right the first time? I'd love to hear your wife's input on that.

I think some of the best punishments are two fold.

Make him wash and wax the car. I'm talking bumpers polished, clean inside and out.

You sit back and make sure it's done right. Then after all that surprise him by letting him take you and the wife out for ice cream in the car.

Make it feel like a punishment, then reward him with driving the car but he pays for the ice cream!

When I would get in trouble I received a swift and violent beating. Sometimes tho my punishment was to wash and wax the entire race boat. Underside, top, engine, clean the wheels, everything.

Then if I was lucky I got to fire it up and back it off the trailer, pull it up to the dock and idle it out of the no wake zone.
Then if I was realy lucky my dad would let me hammer it a bit.

To this day there's no sweeter sound than a high comp engine with open pipes cracking off.
