Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

Another thing I'm trying to figure out is strips. Thinking tail stripe and center hood and scoop being flat black.

Haven't been able to do anything on mine, too much life stuff getting in the way. The wifey let me apply for a tractor supply card though, as I can spend $300 and if we pay it off in 6 months there's no interest. The card should be here early next week, so I can run to the next town over, get a gas bottle for my welder and some square tubing to brace it with, and get the front clip off next weekend. Hoping, anyway, lol. Seems lately every time I try to earmark time for it something else gets in the way.Messing around tonight to get the center stall of the garage cleaned out enough to get a car into if I need to work on something this winter.

I here you buddy been there most of my life. 8 kids all by myself and now retired and hope I live long enough to enjoy my ride.
But you heard that before just a reminder to hang in there.

Holy crap! You have 8 kids? I'm the youngest of 8, lol. I don't know how my mom and dad did that.. one kid drove me nuts! (and is continuing to do so.. 17 yr. old that doesn't know to check his oil.. we've been through this, guy..)

I here you I got 6 boys and 2 girls and 2 don't know how to check oil or anything else in there cars. Wife died young and had all 8 at home the youngest was 2 then. Never remarried and just the last few years been able to get back into my cars and trust me I am stupid when it comes to all that is going on in the world and TV mostly the internet. I think most here know how out of place I am. I still don't have regular TV channels since 1980 I think. Just rambling on sorry.

Wow.. raising those kids by yourself is unimaginable to me.. you're one hell of a guy. And you're not stupid by any means, that's pretty obvious to me! There's a difference between 'stupid' and 'inexperienced'... you're doing just fine with this internet thing! You're helping out a lot of people (me included) with sharing your knowledge, and it's an awesome thing!

Got the dash painted today and all the parts that are connected. No spray can paint used SEM and a spray gun a catalyzed paint that has a great hold out made for exterior and UV protection.
Power went out on the last coat and had to use a flash light but looks good. lol
 
Hey Fred: great job but you should rename your thread "Freds build on two budgets" Your build is fun to watch and I really like the car. I'm speechless from hearing how you raised your family! You are the man.

You would have done the same raising your kids I'm sure.
And as far as my car sure would like to have some of you guys close by to help me figure things out I'm not real smart when it comes to putting it together and wiring is my biggest problem.
If I get it done taking it on a road trip to Washington and would like to stop by and see your car and maybe have a beer with ya.

Yes we are close enough for that. Electrical is my specialty so I’m glad to help.
