Not brewing. But aging. My wife and I enjoy mixing up batches of bourbon, rum and tequila. Fun to do and the results are worth the wait :)

My brew kit is at the post office and will pick it up on Monday can't wait to start a new batch. This came in the mail as well. Good people at Mr Beer I think.

Hey Toolman Got my brewing kit today and the can I got what I need to do but what do I do with the 2 other packets can't find anything on the web site for them. It says it adds 1 percent ABV when added to the refill per package.
Still new to this so forgive my stupidity.

Yes, the softpack adds extra sugar (dextrose?) for more alcohol. I usually get on their website and download the instructions. The online one is usually more current and complete. You can brew with or without the booster.

So still add the amount of sugar it calls for on the can and add the booster I want?

It's up to you but I would just mix it without the booster. If I get a chance I will ask the group on Facebook about this. It looks like this is just a liquid malt extract brew and probably doesn't need the extra sugar/alcohol.

Thanks Mike I want a good beer.

Would think reading the alcohol content makes a big difference in taste as well. To high or to low could loose flavor I'm guessing. All new to me but has been fun so far.
Ashley from Mr Beer said to use it. It gives it the alcohol content equal to the beer that it mimics. Your choice. I bet it will be good whether or not you use it.

I don't know much about the Mr Beer product but I assume you would never get the chance to measure the SG.

They would know I will use it. Thanks Mike.

First batch I made was real good and I don't care for a dark ale but was tasty.
Easy to brew even I didn't screw it up.
