When my Dad was racing his 79 Cordoba regularly, the tow vehicle was a 77 B200 long wheelbase van.
The kind with the taller fiberglass roof, fully shag carpeted interior, captains chairs for seats, etc.
We re-ringed a 360, added some headers, Ede performer intake, 600 Holley, Comp 268H cam.
We used a B&M weighted flex plate and retained the stock converter that was behind the original 318 that came in the van.
L60-15 rear tires and 3.23(3.21??) gears.

One time at the track there was an issue with the Cordoba that prevented him from being able to race it, so he unhooked the trailer from the van and ran it in the street class.
15.60’s....... I don’t remember the speed.

That’s over a second quicker than a 1986 Monte Carlo SS I had with the HO 305 and 3.73’s.

Be interesting to see how 318wills van stacks up.

My vote for the first test where actual work is required is the SM head swap on the 360.
I can't stop thinking of this. LOL. I have a friend at the strip that used to pull his F85 to the strip with a Dodge B250. It had a 360, and he added headers, MP cam, Holley, and he had 2.94's. I watched him run a 15.9 with it. LOL.
Resurrecting my "Race a VAN" thoughts... LOL :D :D

And speaking of this, now that I've changed directions with the "10's for 5k" deal, I've found several vans that I would have bought for that race. Always goes that way
Drag-a-Van.... what a waste, but we're going to do it

The motor in my Dads van also got the heads gone thru and some minor bowl work...... might be where some of that extra .3 in ET came from.

we'll know in a couple of months right where the van stands … LOL

Ok, now this is in the mix..... falls under "new purchases" lol

Just got the 2020 schedule! April 11 tnt. April 18 - tnt....
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Is there a swap on either day?
Doesn't say swap meet, so I wonder if they aren't doing it this year. They usually always have had one, so I don't know. But it is not listed on the schedule.

Are you not going if there isn't a swap meet? Just curious, I know it's a ways away.

I'll let you know for sure at the HemiSS swap meet in Rockford the first weekend in April but I plan to be at Cordova when you run the truck and van.

Just so you know, the truck will start out as a 318 2bbl, so 18.00 flat?? LOL. Actually, I'd like to race it against my truck and let it lose. Then see what we can get done and how far up the ladder we can climb against our cars before taking it down. But, I bet they'll want to run it as is.

As we get closer to those dates I may have to make a roadtrip to see this faceoff. Can you say youtube videos to document.

We will upload the truck on youtube as it progresses and post it in the thread. Why not, right?

There is a guy on Uncle Tony's Garage racing a van, also Junkyard digs and thunderhead289 both tout thier vans so why not?

Exactly! But get the van on there too.
yes, when I run the van, I'll upload that and post it here on FABO as well. Right now, the van would make quick work out of the 318 2bbl truck in it's current state. I haven't driven the truck yet, obviously, but it's not going to run with the van at this point.

I challenged the guy on UTG to a race. They gave me a heart, but no response.

I want to see that race!
UTG guy is from Tennessee. We would have a distance barrier, but if he promoted it, it would pay for their trip I'm sure. I don't get anything from You tube. UTG makes his living off of it. IF it happened, I want FABO to get behind me while I'd kick the snot out of that Ford. They are at low 11's in the 1/8. We'll find out where I am at :D

UTG used to sell parts here and still might. I say lets get it done.

I bought a rim off of him when he was here. That would be cool. Hmmm Hmmm sponsored by FABO vs the Ferd sponsored by UTG. Put decals on the side of each van. LOL I bet that would pull 10k new members here from UTG 110k subs and UTG would get a truck load of views.

Where did you drop the challenge? Also tag him with an @ to get his attention.

Where did you drop the challenge?
On his Ford Van promo video. They talked about another guy that challenged them and UTG/guy said "bring it on". I told them I have a '89 van with 360 I'd race them. I got a heart from them but no reply....
