AMD parts. What I found out

Yesterday I placed a large order for parts because of them closing out for what I may need this summer. Rob told me that the reason for the parts being discontinued is due to Tariffs.

I Ordered Quarters, Tail light sections, floors. wheel houses and drop downs, and some rear bumpers for a 71 Demon and Dusters. I had to get 72-76, I bought extras, 71 not available at this time. Like I said "at this time". They are not going to be discontinued but they are not sure when they will be able to re-stock at the current price .
I also bought the last sharkstooth grille they had in stock. They may not be available anymore. So I bought it because of the deal I was given. I bought the last right 71 quarter a little while back . I saw a left OEM for sale on ebay. Pricey but but I may need it.

Just thought I would give you all some info I found out. If you order through the AMD install shop with a large order You get a huge discount. I saved a lot of money basically got the $1300 grille for free but spent way over $5k

Get your friends in your area to pitch in and place a large order to one address. The savings are great. We got a shed to store the parts. As I sell some of my used stock I will buy more from AMD. The parts don't eat and they will always be wanted.

This is the reason I buy some cars with good sheet metal and strip them. It won't be long and the A-body parts will be no more. How many are out there and how many are being restored.

Did any of you notice all the rusted projects being sold now. Those guys that kept saying they are going to fix them one day noticed that day is never happening with no sheet metal.

I wish I had acreage. LOL

I went out yesterday and dug a 73 LF fender off the scrap pile I had put there because of a little dent and someone had tried filling in the marker light hole. Scrap no more!
 
Tariffs ... yeah ask Smith Bros about tariffs .
The alloy they need is only produced in Germany.
 
I placed a large order last week and may add a few more parts just in case. Looks like it shipped yesterday so I'll just hide all the parts in my basement until I'm ready.

Good idea about that discount with some friends. We did that with Legendary Interiors. We put together a good sized order between friends and became a dealer.
 
I Disagree, We have bought 14,000 of AMD stuff this year already. Mike at AMD (I can go into this long story but no need to) if its not selling they are discontinuing the parts plain and simple. Because if it was Tariffs They would be stopping a lot more parts. They are all about the Truck stuff right now, that stuff is selling like hot cakes. If you have projects in the future I would try to buy your stuff as soon as possible.

Right, because tariffs only affect mopar parts.

Over on FBBO they were discussing this topic. Some of the guys say they are good friends with owners, or high ups, and say AMD has to order 500 of each piece at a time. They say the AMD guys are Mopar guys and got into the Mopar stuff due to their interest there, even though the return on investment for Mopar is not so good.
I can see truck parts going nuts. There are million out there. Again, mostly GM and Ford!!!
 
If there is a demand for items, someone will produce them. That or it’ll make the swap meets more profitable
 
People have already mentioned how sheet metal can go wanting for a buyer at even big swaps. I went to Nats. for 15 years or so, with ton of parts and Carlisle a couple of times, but notsince about 2003. I assume today is like yesterday, not that many people go there with truck to haul the sheetmetal back home in. Then you get the guys that pass on anything that is not 100 % perfect, and the guy that says $75 I way too much for a Duster fender! lol
 
I just got the invoice. Saved over $1000. That is why I had them throw in a grille. Rob told me the tariffs are why they are not reordering parts that have sold out as per Mike. They would have to raise the prices and change the web site. They are probably going to be available in the future but who knows when that will be. Some parts that were not selling were not stocked in quantity. example Like the 70-71 quarters two years and not many calls for them. But 72-76, Five years they were the same and many more cars out there being repaired.

I would say one day they will restock but who knows what and when. So get-em while you can is the way I look at it.

I typed in 71 demon quarters on the web. No one is selling them and if they are it says AMD. I have been down that road pay and wait for an item that never arrives. National back order? and then try and get a refund.

I don't know about Trucks or other brands, B or E bodies. But what I can tell you is A-body builders always seem to get cut off the parts list first. We don't have the finances and the cars are not bringing the price of many others. So companies won't take the chance on shelving items for guys with shallow pockets.
 
I also placed an order yesterday but through AMD website. $3590.
So I have just now been looking for AMD Install Shop. Do you just call in an order? A day late anyway, but just curious.
My main concern was shipping. I thought about driving to GA and picking it up but then at checkout, it showed "free shipping". So that at least was a relief.
Also, I shopped from the 50% off discontinued items page for some of my order.
 
I ordered myself a set of 69 dart quarter skins left and right. Shipped yesterday. I tried a buddy to add parts to my cart but he’s a foot dragger lol.
 
Just to add to yours Oldmanmopar, I told Mike make the 70 -71 Duster Demon Quarter panel and stop the 72 and up ones. Let the 72 and up weld the hole up, they will still sell the same. At least the cars worth something will have the correct quarter panel.
 
Same for the 67 to 69 Barracuda's. I spoke with the people from Stephen's performance and they said it was just " Consolidating" multiple parts to a single part.

I also ordered 69 skins left and right. Shipping sucked but still cheaper for two skins with shipping then one full quarter without shipping so i bought them. Called last Thursday, they said they had about 60 left of each. Mine are coming today. I don't even own a 69 but i hope to one day. For now they will be stored.
 
Sorta like just having an engine... then looking for a car to put it in!!
I'm glad they still have some inventory and have marked the prices down! Somebody spot me a few thou!???? lol

Shipping did suck mine was 200$ out to the west coast. I don’t really need quarter skins either but never know what the future holds.
