Recently have had an amazon infestation in my neighborhood as they bought an old flea market and are using as their hub till they build a 1,200,000 sq ft building on the property.
This is a small, quiet, small town that has been ruined by the big corporate enterprise.
Now it's sit and watch vans ruling the streets and gas station near by. Everywhere you go, is van, van, van.
So I went for a part the other day at the local pts store and on my way, a van was driving like 30 mph and I went into the passing lane to pass it and the van started veering into the passing lane as I got beside it, causing me to have to steer into the wrong lane. So I gave the srt 8 a lil gas and got by him but next thing I see there are red/ blue lights flashing. Yep I got a ticket for 50mph in a 45 mph zone. 153$. I even explained the reason and he didn't ask for the insurance or reg so thought I would just get a warning but NOOOO.
Guess they needed some revenue. 1st ticket in 35yrs.

Well.......you WERE speeding. But it still sucks. 153 bucks is totally excessive.

Fight it and hope for a more reasonable judge or magistrate, explain that you were driving defensively and the officer mistook it for aggresive. Here in michigan I would contest that without a second thought. Half the time the officers don't even show up for the little tickets and that's an automatic win for me.

Agreed and been way, way, way over that many times but I was making an evasive maneuver to avoid the van. They have been causing the rage, just being in the way everywhere I go.
Granted, it is a public road and not just mine but the van should have been fined and ck'd for cell phone use or something for being in the middle of the road. Guess that's what happens when hundreds of vans take over a rural country setting.

Just got a new Amazon driver in the neighborhood... How can I tell??? I can start hearing the stereo from three blocks away.. boom-boom... Closer.. BOOM-BOOM!!! Sitting across the street... BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM... Driving away... BOOM-BOOM.... boom-boom...

All the tax money Amazon is paying the county now just paid for his new radar gun LOL...

And just think, when Amazon receives their 200K electric vehicles they boast of, they can cease paying the fuel taxes to support road repair .

Actually I have a friend in Washington that has one of those electric cars they have other charges that hit him in the kneecaps with for having an electric car LOL with any luck they'll end up paying more....

I think Ca uses a road use tax by mileage thing on electrics here. Or perhaps have plans for such.

What they gonna do when all them batteries go bad? Rebuild? Throw in the ocean? Bury em?
100k vehicles = alot of batteries, thats for sure.

Around here, everyone is speeding. Who gets stopped and fined is like playing the lottery.
They have to stop and fine more as schools reopen, and even more this cycle because the schools have been closed much longer than the typical 3 months.

Yep I got a ticket for 50mph in a 45 mph .

A ticket for 5 over anything above a 20-25 limit is preposterous. It is time for you the people to take back your state. Around here, speed has generally for certain gone up. 10-15 over on the freeway is commonplace, damn near 80 in a 70 is probably closer to 30-40% or more. You SELDOM see a cop stopping anybody around here, and it's been weeks since I've seen a RADAR cop. the city, here, does have ONE motor cop. I damn near wrecked his *** several years ago in the Dart

I pulled out of a supermarket onto a 35mph street and simply accelerated. Nothing illegal, just got up to speed. He is obviously used to import junk. He started following, and ended up I went through a light as it was turning yellow. He followed...........illegally. The light was red by the time he went through. He sped up trying to get through. IMMEDIATELY through the light, 2-3 cars ahead stopped to left turn into a Goodwill store. This is a 2 lane street. He God Damn near hit me, back there with the speed wobble on the brakes and the whole damn thing. No, he did not stop me. He was wishing he was somewhere else

Noticed that a few years back when heading to Florida for a vacation. Rt 95 was 80+ and no way the cops could stop all the speeders. It seems to have progressed here also. You would get run over if you attempt the normal limit these days. I hear people don't use stop signs and redlights in Tennessee and who knows what its like in New York. I imagine its just a big traffic jam there with some very aggressive driving.

I'm not sure I've seen any worsening of stop signs and red lights. "Big thing" around here started maybe 10? years ago, the "fun" has migrated here where you run a red after the green is on the other way. I REALLY look more than I used to. Biggest problem here (recent new anti-text law) is idiots texting. I watch people approaching if I can and you often see their head "down in the cockpit".

I watch for the tell tale front end dive of cross traffic before I even think about entering an intersection on a green light :steering:Stop signs are just a suggestion, double yellow lines=pass at higher rate of speed. According to my Brat's last rolling a stop sign ticket $350. I don't have the money to throw away like that on 15 seconds of my time

Do you get points on your license for that?

From what I read, he could have just as easily given you a ticket for improper lane usage

And I don't have an SRT-8, so I have no idea how far "a lil gas" propels a challenger past 30, but i gotta tell you, id be surprised if 50 was where he clocked you at

No points. Probably about 10mph in 2 sec I would assume but he stated 50 on a visual. I already paid it because it was no points and just don't want to waste my time sitting in the DJ's office. He said it was aggressive driving.

The highway patrol gave me a 25 in a 65 excessive speed ticket four or five years ago while commuting home on my street bike. He said, any speed with the front wheel in the air is an unsafe speed sir.

I just agreed and signed, as actually the front wheel unexpectedly pointed skyward at around 80 mph as it power wheelied in second gear. I forgot I didn't have a full tank of gas to keep the front end down in second before I could chop the power. I guess he was pretty far behind me when it happened and just saw the headlight point skyward briefly.
