I know this is an A body forum.... but would love some imput on this one. To me it looks like it needs a full restoration but the engine is not frozen. 440 4 barrel ... 1970.... thoughts on a fair price in this sorta shape?‽? Thanks in advance! It does have some rusty spots.... but can be fixed. Nothing super terrible....

I'd leave that POS right where it is.

I also realized that I posted this in the wrong section...

What are your plans for it? Restore it or hold it to flip as is in a few years? If it’s the former, restoring an E body is not cheap. Don’t be fooled into thinking that is only a $10k restoration.

Original 383 N code car

$15K-25K

with the very limited info and pics provided.

It needs a full rub. Especially a '70. If you can/have got from a deal you couldn't refuse? Then roll up your sleeves and plan on a full haul. It certainly needs a rotisserie that I can see. The build technically it not any tougher. Its part prices. Expect some sticker shock. Good luck. And good hunting.

I was guessing a 40k restoration job.... to 50k. .... was told this was a 440 4 barrel.... but need to go back with more time and really take a look before I make a serious offer..... I need to check this as the tag shows it as 383.... but my guess is that it was a factory 383... just gotta make sure the numbers matching engine is there....

I dam sure wouldn`t give 15-$20,000 for it !!

not enough pics to tell anything really.. 70 cudas are still very desirable.. guess it depends what you want from it.. if it were me and i could get it for a good price, i'd get it running, buff it out and go beat the hell out of it until someone wants to offer you stupid money for it.

Grab it as just an investment, people are crazy for those Cudas yet. Very few left for any type of rebuild.

Under 10 grand would be good, needs a clear title or you got nothing on your investment.

I lived the dream in 1976 before these cars were all used up.

Fond Memories . . .

hell back then the round tail light cudas (72-up) were considered lesser e-bodies and frowned upon..lol. in this area anyway... wasn't till like the late 80's to maybe the mid 90's that they got expensive and more sought after.

These E bodies are overpriced no matter what.
You gotta want it regardless. As if money is no option.
If your willing to make the plunge, the only way these are reasonable is if your doing the majority of work yourself. On my ‘73 Cuda, I’ll leave the paint and body to a pro and I’ll handle everything else because that’s not a problem with me. I don’t mind paying the piper is fee on what I can’t do. On what I can do I’ll do. And I can do everything else myself and it’ll still be expensive, but reasonable enough to handle.

I remember that! Freakin Unbelievable! I got a ton of **** for having a round light Cuda. People.... ummm, those fuckers, (more appropriate) would say dumb *** ****. “Oh so sorry to see you have that car.”
“Don’t you wish you had a REAL Cuda?”
Etc...

I remember when I first started looking for a bracket car in the later part of 2000. The E bodies were a ridiculous price back then & have high up to the point of "out of sight". That's why I decided to go with an A body, glad I did now.

Crazy expensive to restore. My brother had a decent 318 car that he built up with 340 and suspension up grades. I still liked driving my 66 better. That’s back when owning a Mopar was frowned upon

They ain't making them any more!
I guess that is not truth either because of the aftermarket.
I had a 70 years ago, nice styling.
Won't be cheap or easy, but nothing worth doing is.

The repo parts may be a little more expensive than for an A-body but almost everything is available. Not as many donor cars around. The labor of you’re paying someone is the same. I would bet a numbers matching type original restoration on an A or E body would be similar in cost if starting conditions were same. The big difference is the buy in on the car. A rusty complete 70-71 E body will bring $10k or more depending on options and drivetrain. Unless it is a rare or desirable combo you will never recoup costs if you’re paying for the resto.

Looks like a pretty decent car, wrong motor aside. If the roof skin is rusted, AMD makes them. Unless you can get it dirt cheap (Under $15K) you couldn't make any money on it even if you did the complete resto yourself. If you want the car to keep, then don't worry about it. It will be a nice car when it's fixed. Let us know if/when you get it!

lol.. guy around her would call them a "lower case e-body.. guys would say they were just parts cars for real E-bodies..

I think that this is the original motor and he just misspoke. With that said I will go back and take a much better look.

I also do not see the raised pad that all RB engines have just behind the thermostat housing and a tad to the left that would be right under the plug wires in the front, so it appears to be a low deck. Maybe if you can get a better picture?

A fist full of cash, some work and a 500 cube stroker and it could be sweet if I wanted it.
I'd change the color to black on black . I don't think anything would be stock.
Cars are an attraction to me, not an investment.
