I'll check it out! I'm not ready to pounce on anything I was hoping there was like maybe a tranny from a ram that was a 4-speed I could toss a lock up converter in.( I have one from. A lockup 727 laying around )and sling up in my Duster.. just in case I need a Mad Max in a little bit! Not that She's an Australian Ford with a huffer! Lol?????????????
[FOR SALE] - 4 sp O/D package
I used to have a bunch of them aluminum case large bearing retainer overdrive 4 spds. I think I sold one for 10 bucks once, like a dumbass ... brand freaking new almostI’d like to say my heads up my *** showing the manual trans when you said you have a 727. With that said, it has been a while since I seen a 727 OD variant but I’d go with the A-500 variant to free up some hp and loose some weight. Being your cutting a driveshaft down anyway……

No Sir ! If I had the coin I go ahead and scoop that up and try to dig up a set of clutch pedals just to try to get started in the right direction
Like going to a boneyard and pulling a o.d. trans that i could bolt up and go? Lol I see you remember something about adding a lil switch to apply power to the silly niodI reckon it all depends on what you call low buck.

A friend of mine dad builds a 727 he was a tranny guy so masshole through the car in reverse and screwed it up but that's a 3-speed he said he had a lockup 727 he gave it to me actually it's sitting over in the yard but I don't know if that's actually a 3-speed lockup or notNo Mopar auto is an easy swap. You would want an earlier "H" (hydraulic) IE 46RH as opposed to an RE (electronic) out of the later vehicles. Hydraulic ones are hard to find. 727 based are not an easy physical swap and either 904 or 727 bases swap requires extensive crossmember re-fabrication There are threads on here showing some good details.
There is what is called gearvendors but they might be "cheap"

That's what I figured. I don't have the numbers on the thing but he told me it's a lock up 727. I'm probably confused cuz I read something about being able to take a lock up converter Indo power to it but that was probably for the overdrive 500 or 518All 727s are three speeds.

I don't even know where the heck he got that thing from. Maybe it's an overdrive and he doesn't know it but I believe you told me it was a 727 it's just said it has to use the lock up converter I'll have to investigate that.Yeah, NOVAC says there was a 727 lockup introduced in 1978 so they did make one.

I believe there is no need to modify any part of the body to run the GM 200.Nothing is a direct bolt in and go except the A833OD 4 speed. I guess if I was gonna do one, I'd probably do the 904 based A500. The GM 200 is a good transmission, but would require beefing up pretty good and also cutting the transmission tunnel.......so if that's the case, keep it Mopar and use the A500.......or 518......whichever, but they are NOT a bolt in deal. Nothing really is except the A833OD. Now....there IS another alternative. You could use the A999 904 lockup transmission. There are a few companies that make custom lockup converters. That would be a direct bolt in. Although not an OD, the converter lockup is very similar to another gear.
To be clear I am NOT talking about an actual 727. I'm talking about the newer OVERDRIVE 727 or 904 based boxes, which are (installation and size wise) a completely different deal.A friend of mine dad builds a 727 he was a tranny guy so masshole through the car in reverse and screwed it up but that's a 3-speed he said he had a lockup 727 he gave it to me actually it's sitting over in the yard but I don't know if that's actually a 3-speed lockup or not

Yes several reasons. No need to alter the transmission tunnel. The trans fits as is. The .67 overdrive is better than most 4 speed autos I've seen plus it has deeper first gear than a 727. Better at the track! All the conversion parts are available, these transmissions have been built and proven to hold up to 1000 HP, practically no electronics are there to make the transmission work since it's mostly all mechanical, and nearly every single person who has done this conversion has said "Best money I've spent on my Mopar, and I've spent a lot". I looked at all the different swaps and I liked this one the best. It may seem like a lot of work, but I'd almost bet it's not much worse, if any, than any other overdrive swap. Welding in the US Car Tool crossmember will be the most difficult part probably, and that should be a breeze. Once you have all the conversion parts and crossmember in place, it's a bolt in swap. Mostly what is needed for this swap is research.
Getting a little off track here RRR as this is far from a "low buck" option. @Treblig is running one too I believe. Sure, you need a mount modification but the body fits. The Mopar overdrives need the body modification.Yup. The top of the transmission cross member has to be cut.
