Skill level needed?
I'm not saying this as a smartass in any way shape form or fashion, but if you have to ask what skill level is needed for a job, you probably need some help. We have lots of members in Florida who I'm sure would be glad to help. It's really not "that" bad a job, but if you've never done it before......Skill level needed?
I do not.Do you own a dial indicator?
Not taken as a smart *** answer at all. I’m always looking for honest opinions when I ask questions! Next question is where to get the sure grip bits?I'm not saying this as a smartass in any way shape form or fashion, but if you have to ask what skill level is needed for a job, you probably need some help. Amen to that !FSM is always my first tool
Have the 742 carrier, it prob does have high 2 something gears as it’s a standard 65 Newport. I have not taken the carrier off to officially check the ratio. Original metal ID tag is long gone. Used the tire spinning test to tell that is is not a Sure Grip. Does any vendor make new Sure Grip parts for the addition? Are we reading the OP?
He doesn't have a loaded carrier to swap in.

Yep! That’s what this Newport donor 8 3/4 is for. The Newport is donating its 383 motor and 727 trans as well. Will have to get the axle housing shortened.Umm... I'm reading "67 Dart 270, 225 slant six" under your avatar. I assume that's the car that the sure grip is headed for.
Does this car (the Dart) have an 8 3/4 rear already? Or is it the 7 1/4 rear I would expect to find under it?
OK, the way I was reading it was you were swapping a sure-grip from the '65 into the existing rear end.Yep! That’s what this Newport donor 8 3/4 is for. The Newport is donating its 383 motor and 727 trans as well. Will have to get the axle housing shortened.
Got the Newport for $350 so can’t pass up the chance to build up the Dart!
More than likely. I’m in Pensacola, far western panhandle.I am assuming you are going to large bolt pattern then ?
where is Florida are you ?
That C body 727 isn't right for your A body.Yep! That’s what this Newport donor 8 3/4 is for. The Newport is donating its 383 motor and 727 trans as well. Will have to get the axle housing shortened.
