I can’t help you but I flowed two stock cast iron Hemi heads with different part numbers for a local shop and those dog-gone things were heavy
Big block dart had a write up years ago, it was roughly a 30-35 pound savings per head.
I do know from shipping, that a BB 452 head weighs 52 pounds and an BB Eddy RPM head weighs 28 pounds. with the hemi head being a bit wider,

You are much smarter than I am so I’ll take your word for it and I’m sure you’ve actually weighed them. It just made so much sense in my head that a cast, externally balanced crank with larger main journals would weigh more.

Maybe you've wrestled with trying to stand one upright against the front bed of a truck before? Lol they are awkwardly shaped @475lbs.
I watched my brother who's 225lbs struggle and almost hurt himself doing it. Lol thing kept slipping and spinning around and wanting to land on his foot or leg.
They'll put the hurt on you if you let um. lol

What surprises me is that the old 392 hemi is lighter than a 426 hemi? The DC Engine book says it's the other way around...

These weights seem odd to me, already alluded to in post #13. Then I look again & see more anomalies...
