I'm here
BB mopar (440) street/pump gas motor.
Looking for experiences, maybe some have had these come through their shops, etc. At least 450, but maybe 500 HP
THOUGHTS ??

the promaxx are also out of stock, no idea when they will have castings.
if i was building a 383, i'd do the 75cc chamber E-Street head.
440 or stroker, promaxx
wanted a stock look, the 440 source heads.

i think the promaxx heads would have the nicest valve job.

I don’t know if @AndyF is on here much lately. In his latest postings on the subject, good usable iron cores were one of the greatest concerns. IIRC, that’s more with the 915/906 heads. But plenty of people have made in the 450-500 hp range through the years with template ported iron 452 heads.

If I ever do a 440 the very first thing will be a stoker kit... 512 cubic inches...
After that I'd play with heads ..

Why E-streets rod the smaller CID?

I was liking the E-streets till I saw - Wow! They say QA is bad on china heads, my small block Speedmasters were much better than the E-streets they disassembled

I will be building a 440 and I think 3.75 stroke is plenty. Head First I'll plunge

Just Mopar Joe recently did a YT on the E streets. Not very good. Seats did not seal, seats too wide, machining grit trapped under the valve seals. Etc.

That’s what I think he is talking about.
Why he didn’t name MoParJoe, IDK

It must be the concrete Foreman in me that wants a good foundation...
I don't know about concrete "foreman", but I will agree "concrete head".... LOL. 1st page on a head thread and the choices of 4 are up there, and you want to talk about stroking a motor.

FWIW, even though I don’t have a B engine up and running now, the two heads I’d consider would be ether the CNC Shocker ProMaxx, my SB CNC Shocker heads were very good and clean when I got them, or, the TF heads.

CNC ported or TF are out of the price range, and doubt that much flow is needed to achieve the goal. TF has my respect for producing Quality heads, but I'm not going to spend 2300 bucks just for heads on this particular project.

Roger that.
Cheap is the path correct?

I'm not thinking "cheap" as in junkyard build like the bombcycle. However, I'm not overspending on parts that aren't necessary to achieve 450-500 hp from a 440. Buy the minimum to accomplish the goal may be a good term ?? Personally, I think each of the heads can make the goal, but the best for the money would be ???? That's really the question

I had the goal of 450 to 500 horsepower in mind first...
Remember "the package" everyone talks about...

yes, that's the same link i posted in the first post. These have really got my attention. I have the intake and aluminum water pump housing already.
These would support the lower your looking for. What intake?
