When I bought my plow truck it had modern wheels on them, 20sI hate those diesel trucks that are lifted and run on 24 x 10" wheels and low profile tires.
Remember the mini truck trend of the 80s? Lowered so much, they couldn't clear a McDonalds cheeseburger...Fog lights no brighter than a dim candle, blue dots in the taillights.
Earlier still....the 70s with the leaf spring shackles, the chrome side pipes, sun visors above the windshield, big, long antennas, airbrushed graphics, tires sticking waaaaay out past the body,
the paintjobs on those lowriders, and the paintjobs of the streefreaks and drag racers of the 70s seem to be kissing cousinsI really dig some of the low riders. The real traditional ones that got their start in Mexico and southern California. Some of those builds are astounding. Some of the best paint jobs you'll ever see.
I agree that today's wheel designs have taken ugly to a whole new level. But on the performance side? The "Fart can" exhaust! WTH?

These new giant wheel fads ! I bet land fills and scrap yards are full of them .. I never like big tall wheels !! Worst thing in my book .
I believe each generation must by definition piss off the generation it preceded? My dad hated my Muscle cars. He would say. "You just like to be loud. Like your music." In his world? If the car wasn't the size of an aircraft carrier? It wasn't an automobile. So all this "Tuner" crowd is doing is finding their own style. (Or lack there of?) And in doing so? It must anger its elders. It's nature?Just saw a late model Charger last night, probably an SXT with "Fart Cans" on it and the dude was on the gas . From the sound of it, it may as well have been a Hyundai MFAO.

You sir, are the "winner." And by that of course, I mean, "the loser" LOLOLOL
Your "olf school"... all right.....and im olf school, on trucks, the only wheels that look good are the one with the round holes like i put on my truck
if it has spokes, i dont like it
same goes for all this black, unless its stamped steel, i dont like em black
Your "olf school"... all right.....
Then I did take it correctly...I wouldnt consider any of these mods hot rodding. More like customizing.....Im talking the 70's mechanical stuff. Hilborn injection on the street? Not terrible but a terrible choice on a street car.
I love gassers, I used to have a Nova painted that same color. I'd still have it if it looked like that. LolWhy is it this is what I was thinking that OP was talking about...

And then the thread turned into all this bashing of cars with big wheels and fancy paint jobs....
When any three of the best a-bodies on here couldn't pay for one paint job for one of the lowriders..
I seen one of these jacked up I don't know if it was quite a Gasser but it did have that kind of feel to it.. it was a late '60s early '70s Nova and God darn it it was badass... It made me really think...I love gassers, I used to have a Nova painted that same color. I'd still have it if it looked like that. Lol
Yes I do and again as I just described I seen one of the car show a couple years ago and it was done so right and that's why I was saying I didn't think it was a Gasser cuz it didn't have a straight axle as I recall but it was jacked way up and it was very very clean....Does anyone remember the ones I was talking about in the first post. These were not even solid axle cars, they were chromed out chassis and motors and the body was literally 4-5 feet off the frame. It has to be in an old Hot Rod magazine somewhere.
