Didja notice the crooked airhorns?
How about "how close" are the front wheels to the hood? How do you turn it?

I’m gonna say absolutely not. While it’s not my cup of tea, it is someone else’s. And if that promotes or grows or maintains the hobby, so be it. Not everyone has 30- 100k or more to spend on a show car or whatever. Besides, with the way the epa is waging war on the hobby, we’re gonna need everyone to be involved with it otherwise, it won’t exist for our children and grand children

Rat rods are cool.
People who think calling their lump of wasted effort a "Rat rod" absolves them of all their cobblehackery are special.

I can care less about the guy driving a **** project. At least he's enjoying it. But the morons who think a non running project that is booger welded together is worth $25k over scrap value have a special place in hell.

There are a lot of ratrods that are pieces of **** and are unsafe to be on the highway. I just hope that when the drivers die in a wreck, that they don't take anyone with them.

I guess I'm a stupid muh huckey then cause I like rat rods. But that POS up there ^^^^ ain't one. LOL

I have no problem with rat rods until it is built unsafe. Open floor boards with drive shaft visible comes to mind.

I personally never got the "Rat Rod" appeal. Certainly part of the Hot Rod generation that preceded the Muscle Car generation. But Muscle Cars would likely not had existed with out that generation. So any hate is moot. Just as I don't hate the Tuner generation that succeeded Muscle Car.

I just bring chop sticks. (Oh no you didn't!)

To me, the original premise of a rat rod was to put something to gether and get it on the road, without needing a $20k paint job, a $10k interior, and if it's got a little rust, so what? I approve of that philosophy.
But the over-the-top junk that is being artificially rusted, and has poor build quality for the sake of outrageousness doesn't appeal any more.

the ONLY WAY that is even considerably ok is if he had that
s-10, wrecked it but the mechanicals were ok, and had that cab and bed. THE ONLY WAY.

...and even then it's questionable at best. lol

Like @cojohnso , I also don't really get the Rat Rod craze. I am not saying I hate them, they are just not me cup of tea. That being said, I can appreciate them. If I am at a car show and see an interesting one that looks like it was built with a nod towards at least some level of safety, I will talk to the owner and have him show me what he has done. I also like to talk to the owners of compact rockets, High Boys, Low riders, etc. I have found that most car guys love to talk about their cars. The one thing that does kind of bug me is when I am at a car show with a LOT of really nice cars (including mine of course), and a rat rod wins one of the top honors. Sorry, but the beautiful 69 Charger, 70 Boss 302 or 69 Z-28 deserved that honor more.
