I did something stupid

The picture took in what looks like a trailer park, the gay wing on the back, the jc whitney exhaust system and the hideous fender gaps in that picture ALONE would indicate it's not a super nice car. That's just my calloused opinion
Calloused? No. Realistic. Yes.

I looked at the company that transported the car and from what saw looked impressive. Now thats not to say the company is great but again from what I read and the reviews looked worth looking into
Whats got me confused is this broker or shipping company with no explanation.
Wouldn't you just deal with the carrier?
Were the extra charges a result of the first shipper?
My question is did the company hired to ship the car deliver on time, damage free and for the contracted price? Thats a pretty straightforward simple question.
Not meaning to knock the OP, but everything seems to be gloom and doom, always a problem.
While id never buy a car sight unseen, its understandable that for some not actually laying eyes on the car is a unavoidable fact.
What id think is hire a person to see the car and look it over, theses services are readably available or ask someone from these sites who is willing to inspect the car
I have no issue with the carrier.

At this point, I won't buy a car unless I see it.

Been saying that since I got popped on a Chevelle in 2003. And then a situation with a motor that I picked up... Just like me, you do own the problem. And just like me you let it happen. I hate to sound off about the topic of buying a car sight unseen, but trust nobody unless you can authenticate the car through a trusted friend and then you still need to see it. Otherwise walk away. Just look at your thread. It's been a hot mess from the start. It sucks but move on.

Dump it if the car is junk. Learn your lesson and apply your knowledge for a smarter purchase. I hate seeing threads like this as it just doesn't promote anything positive for the hobby....

Good luck,
JW

I would get $$ back from broker...whether thru CC company, PayPal, however you paid. Sounds like you hired a broker when one wasnt needed. Who was the broker?

This one is rust free....some people live where they live....and that looks like mobile homes on their own property

. Seen worse panel gaps on low mileage survivors.

I think I've read a 1/4", either way, was around the factory tolerance? Maybe more. I don't remember. Hopefully someone will let us know? And, Hey, Jarlaxle, you have a V-8, 4 spd Mopar! Is it and A-833? Or the OD unit?

Not an OD.

what do you think would be the best rear end ratio for that combo in a street car?

I'd have to read back on the built. Stroker 318? If I remember...man, 3:91s with a 295/50/15 is manageable on the Interstate... if the cam ain't to large, the heads aren't hogged to death, the compression is good, and The TORQUE is there? I'd say 3:55s would be cool!

i dont believe it is a stroker

I have only once bought a car sight unseen, drove 650 miles three days later to pick it up and drive it home. It was a very good deal and overall a good experience. The seller represented the car fairly, answered all of my questions honestly, and I guess I was fortunate to find a good seller. He had dozens of positive reviews and only a few negative ones. The car wasn't perfect, I did have to do some things to make it pass a mechanical inspection when I got home, but it did not have any problems on the drive home. Plus it was a nice little vacation for my wife and I.
It's really unfortunate that the op has been through such a tough situation with what should have been a good experience. I hope that you take a little time to really consider whether you really want to sell it or not before you end up regretting that decision.
Just my .02

I purchased my current ride sight unseen back in 2006. My Mom had passed and left me
a small inheritance. I always drove newer MoPar's but it had been a while since I had a classic.
I found a clean looking 72 SSP on ebay in Arizona. The seller was originally from NY but moved to
a small town outside of Scottsdale. He had the listing also at a Corvette dealer he was working
out of. There was a "Buy it now" option that included free shipping (I am in NY) and there was ebay/PP
insurance on it for over the purchase price. The car was rust free and being in NY that was super important
but there was no way for me to put eyes on the car. I was able to call the guy and talk to him. Seemed straight up.
I checked BBB on the business and that was OK. I called the local police and asked if they knew the business and
they told me that they were good people. I was still nervous but pulled the trigger a few days later.
The car showed up about 3 weeks later on an open carrier. Aside from the gas cap missing and no fuel
(I'm sure it was the shipper) it was awesome and better than I expected however I feel I got pretty lucky.
Maybe Mom was looking over me.

So I don't understand now that you have the car you suddenly wanna sell it cause you think it's a pos since the body lines don't line up, blah blah blah. Let me ask you. Did you think you were gonna buy a 50 year old car that needed nothing? The thing to do instead of admitting defeat is get to work making it a nice car. Then you'll have a positive outcome with the whole situation.
