Is this a correct spare tire rod for a 1970 Dart?
Depends on the model and rim size.
What is the length??Is this a correct spare tire rod for a 1970 Dart?View attachment 1715978481
I believe the bolt should sit even or lower than the board or it will poke a hole in the trunk mat. There is a recessed washer for the top of the board that reaches the stud.Thats about the length you will need.
- Put your spair in the well
- Put the fiberboard cover over the tire
- Measure from the fiber board to the bottom of the well
- Add an inch.
Now if you want something slick...
Get a 14x4.5 wheel, put a Firestone F560 tire on it.
Sits flat in the well.

Good point.I believe the bolt should sit even or lower than the board or it will poke a hole in the trunk mat. There is a recessed washer for the top of the board that reaches the stud
Reverse the wing nuts. The large toothed bendable for reach wingnut is rounded so it also doesn't poke through the mat. The wingnut under the board that holds the tire, jack base and hook is just a regular wingnut
The last photo shows the large wing nut. There is only one and it goes under the board. The one in the cup is a small one like an air cleaner (just bigger)Photos above are wrong.
and the bolt should go through the hook.I'd like to see the right construction.
