Man that chaps my britches when they have some sort of age alignment to procedures. They don't try to understand the individual at all any more
When I got my knee drained I asked the ortho thinking the same we all aren't the same.
He said there are exceptions, and I was one with my overall physical condition, leg muscle, activity level etc...made me feel better.

I have two occasions where I was told I needed surgery and I chose not to. Made some adjustments to footwear and exercise routine and the issues resolved themselves
What's up there in the greater Hoppyland Metro-plex?
I agree even my daughter the surgery nurse said she wouldn't think I'd have surgery unless I just couldn't walk and she's correct.
I seperated the same shoulder three times and twice was given the option of surgery or give it time.
I choose to give it time and have no regrets or problems with the shoulder.
I've had more than one friend tell me once they do surgery on a joint it's never the same.

On the topics of knees I got mine replaced and feel it was the smartest thing I had ever done. Prior to surgery I would duct tape the knee just to make it thru the day. There was not a brace made that compared to the relief duct tape gave me. The pain was intense enough by the end of the day I would throw up in the trash cans from the nausea. I suffered for years as a result of the surgeons reluctance to replace it due to my under sixty age. I finally went in armed with the photo evidence that the knee was totally gone and bone on bone and requested he amputate it and give me a prosti! I was getting no sleep. I was very intense and serious with surgeon. We got it done and literally changed my life.

I'd be ready too if mine were like that. Lucky so far.
Now I realize what the old guys at the gym meant when they said, "taking it a day at a time".
As a young 20 something I'd think what the hell do they mean a day at a time...haha!!
That's the problem right there. I've got some pretty high mileage and abuse and based on my age I've been refused an MRI before. I was "too young"

I am doing that now with a shoulder, they all want to replace it and I am just kind of trying to be smart about using it. Even with the success of my knee replacement I am reluctant to replace the shoulder. The pain isn’t even in the same time zone.
Eric's weekend reports and pics got me fired up. We might take the car and go back again next year.

When I had my shoulder issues, I was told by several that a shoulder replacement was the longest recovery than any other joint.
Just keep doing what you're doing and be smart about it...JMO.
We will be back. Likely can't bring the car back, as I have heard through the rumor mill there, but we will likely be there as spectators at minimum

When I had my shoulder rebuilt, I brought some videos in for him to watch so he would understand my "work day" he was really cool designing a program for me and relating the exercises and stretches to work. Had super results.
