Evidently you love the drama or you wouldn’t be checking in…
True! It is coldout there today in SE Texas, too cold...I admit Iam getting my daily dose of worped humor reading all this!! and a few other threads! Not saying who I vote for as being right or wrong, really give a chit/ but likewife alway says watching TV or movies, and I quote " that is not right" and I always reply " its Hollywood dear!" :poke:
:BangHead:  :thankyou:

They could have used a 360 head with a 1.88 valve and not spent all that time turd buffing.

Its crazy to tell everyone you are on a budget and you want to make power and then use heads like that and then port
I tried that and it was a terrible idea and way out of the scope of this project.

Oh HELL no. Why would I work THAT hard? I’m not saying I couldn’t do it but again, who wants to do all that extra work except the guys who like dick measuring contests even though they lose every time.

Even if I had to use a Torker or a Street Dominator and an 1850 Holley rather than a 650 DP and Strip Dominator I would do that over a 2 bbl.

And I say the cost will be close because I’m not wasting time and money turd buffing the rods (I’d use them dead stock) nor would I lay a grinder on the heads.

I wouldn’t spend all that time shaping the counterweights (BTDT and in back to back tests I didn’t find a single, reliable HP…not one and that was at 8500) which is a fools errand but it looks good in magazines.

Its all about HP/$$$$. I know (in true comic book fashion) no one is counting the costs of all that grinding and the time to do it so their costs are artificially low.
Unless I misunderstood or am remembering wrong DV said in his first video about this build that it was not a build about HP/ $$$ spent. If you think that this build is about best hp/ dollar spent that would explain why it makes no sense to you. It wouldn't make sense to me either. But I don't believe that is what he said this build is about. I think that DV is wise enough to know that using a bbd 2 barrel is not a cost effective way to make HP. I do think that he finds that using the bbd 2 barrel and the other perimeters set out for this build both exciting and challenging. A fun departure from some of the same old builds he commonly does. In that spirit I'll watch and enjoy.

Wait, I’m not throwing DV or anyone else under the bus but this is NOT DV’s project. This abortion belongs to UT, who drug THREE other reputable people into this swirling cess pool.

UT said he was going to use STOCK PARTS and build 318 HP out of 318 inches.

Mission creep started when UT realized his alligator mouth overloaded his canary ***.

I know exactly what this project was supposed to be. And where it is now is nowhere close to what was said when it first started.

And even IF you aren’t on a budget, who in their right mind starts with a poor head and then port it? No one I know.

You don't know any stock class racers who port crappy iron heads because rules dictate that is the head they must use? I did it for years racing in a class that required stock cast iron heads that could be and were ported. Are they ( myself included) in their right mind? Probably not.

You really need to read ALL my posts first.

I have said the ONLY reason to use that casting is for Stock and Super Stock Eliminator. THATS IT.

And I’ve said that probably 50 times. I’ve also said at least 50 times that those guys wouldn’t use that junk either if the rule book didn’t make them.

So you made me think a bit more about this. I’m watching (again) Servedio’s videos. In this particular one he is worried about his mid lift numbers and swirl.

As I’m looking at the video I’m thinking “screw the flow bench numbers and slide a 50 degree valve job on that beeotch”.

Servedio doesn’t have a seat and guide machine so he does his valve jobs with a stone and it’s a real biiiitch to do a 50 with stones and get all the other cuts correct and a 52 would be even harder. A 55 is near impossible and a 60 would be out of the question with a stone.

But that’s what I’d do. I‘d use a 50 degree seat, make the bowls 90-90.5% on the intake and 91% on the exhaust and then blend it all out and send it.

Fun isn't it. I'm not sure how far they will allow themselves to go on the bbd 2 barrel but to me that seems like the cork on the bottle. This is a picture of a rochester 2g and a motorcraft 2150 that I used to run back when we had to run a "stock " carburetor.

While I lie the way you think I also agree there is alot of pissing and moaning on this forum. I can only attribute it to a mix of old heads who know whats goping on,. and a grooup of young guys who dont know **** and waht to change the rules for example a LA 318 will never be a performance engine and it seems because a jerkoff like Uncle Tony say it can theres a whole slew of people who want to argue with guys that been there and know. its the most *** backwards way to thinking I have ever encountered. I am ashamed to be an American because of it...becuase we produce such stupid human beings...
I've been around the block a few times. lol
I'd like to get back to which engine has more potential, a taxi cab 383 or 340. lol :D

Really!! Everyone knows a 340 has more potential than anything Mopar ever made. I can't believe you even broached the subject.

What kind of backwood crap is this? Sure a 318 can be a performance engine - ANY engine can be a performance engine if you build it right. I would consider anything at 1hp/CI or better a performance engine and in stock form a 340 ain't quite there but some people still consider it to be a performance motor. Of course a stock 318 is pretty average but that can be fixed fairly easily. Not everyone has 340s or 360s hanging around to build up and if you had to go out and buy a 340 or 360 to rebuild, why not go straight to a big block?

302s will up compression and are a nice low buck bolt on but you still run into issues with the small ports if trying to get 300 plus Horsepower which is where this Vizard build is headed.
point is with 318s you always hit a wall with the port size of 318 heads. 308s have the 360 ports and same closed chamber . Folks can grind on 318 ports all they want they will never be the size of the 340/360 port so why not start with the real deal I think is the point...no need to an$wer I know why honestly anyone on a budget now in 2022 should find a magnum and build it...although i understand the heads, while an improvement over the LA 318 head crack its fairly common. Just my $.02 worth of drivel carry on...:)
308s are 360 heads that do Not have closed chambers.

Everyone just go throw your slant6,273 and 318s in the garbage because the experts said so,hell throw all the 383,400 413 426(wedge) and spend 8 grand on a stroker 440! Oh yeah never build a stock stroke 340 or 360 either all trash because the experts said so you guys are delusional.
