Kept the faucets dripping, evidently that wasn't enough. Woke up to no water pressure. Looked under the house first to see any signs of leaks. Dry as a bone. Traced about where the pipe is buried out to the well and no wet ground. Go to the well, nothing wet there and pressure gauge shows about 12 PSI. Can it be frozen with nothing busted? Well is not running. I went ahead and turned the power off. Any of you know about wells?

Rob I have one. Yes they can be "just" Frozen. If you can open a fucet closest to the well ioutput? and use a hair drier start hitting it and when it starts dripping or coming out of the faucet let it run then open the next down the line see if it flows if not same thing from the last area to thfaucet #2 etc. Had it here a few yeas ago and got lucky no split pipes.

So then, it being frozen can make the gauge read almost nothing?

Thought the gauge said 12? If that is low start heating that area. Above ground pump? Mine is on the end of the line inside the well.

12 zero.....it ain't much. No, pump is about 340 feet down. No extension cord long enough. May have to wait till it warms up.

It should not be frozen in the well, think a frost line is like 3 feet down. Even 12 on the guage says to me there is some pressure in the pressure tank and should have something coming out. Think my swith is on at 30 ish and off around 45 or so. If it is 12 you would think the pump would run. Where is the on/off pressure switch? Still have my number?

Gauge could be wrong or frozen, right? Pressure switch is at the well head. It's pretty new......not that that means a dang thing. I don't think I do have your number, no.

Submerible pump.. I bet the little pipe that goe to the pressure switch is froze Put some that on just tha t pipe and thaw it. Points in that witch like cars. I always kept a little hand held propane torch or that back in cold *** Mo.

Yes sir. That's what it was. That was the only TINY section I did not insulate. That beeotch will be wrapped to kingdom come and back here in an hour or three when the Ace Hardware opens. lol Ray's hair dryer trick did it. Thank you Ray!

I used to keep a light bulb running in my little well shed during the colder nights and it seemed to be just enough..... good luck mr.

Back in Mo. the well, tank etc was out in the broodmare pasture. I built a "box" around it all about 4 x 4 with a removable top, all well insulated with bats. That pipe to the switch never froze until an Alberta clipper roared thru and wind chill went to like minus 30 or 50. The darn broddmares were always itching ther butts on the box and would have the lid off a little to let some air in. Don't take much air when that cold!!! That pipe wouldfreee, and I would drive the truck out there. I could not stand that wind more than a couple of minutes. Canutes would call me a pussy. Seemed like it alway took more than a couple of minutes!!
When I moved to SW Mo. I put the pressure tank in the barn or house! 200 mi further South, The locals thought I was NUTS!!
I have a couple of fingers that when they get reallyc old, it feels lke someone jabbing them with a knife..over an over.

I have had the line that comes from the well pump to the pump in the well house freeze and not break.

And the well house is pretty well insulated. Now I put a little heater right on that pipe and it has not frozen again.

Just one little 3 foot section would freeze up.

Never trust an old worn gauge, or a new cheap one. I always remove them if they have a valve or shutoff **** and see if they go back to zero.
