I agree, I believe the whole thing is a "clickbait" and....... the other side of that is, why dont they do some QUALITY work for the public and make a living that way, as apposed to all this youtube panhandling
Actually, DV's channel does have a lot of quality content on it, at least IMO. Sometimes I watch UT's channel too if I'm looking for what NOT to do.

I wouldn't call it panhandling there's always been a demand for content, instead of it all done and owned by networks the average person can do it now. Sure allows for a lot of junk but there's always been that anyways. Not like UTG wasn't around in print before this.

Anyway, watch his videos and see how he went about figuring out where the air was, where it wasn’t and how he got it to do what he wanted. He did damn good work and anyone can learn some things from him.
Greymouser7, I totally agree with this . Watch them over and over, and listen to him thinking out loud.

I'm no pro porter, but I think the only mistake he thought he made was getting involved in the project!
But seriously, I think he was referring to when he first did those heads years ago. I think as he went, he realized, those "mistakes" weren't really that big an issue as he was still removing and reshaping the port, chasing the flow. He just worked out where he only really needed to remove metal and applied that to the second port.
I'm not sure if he's going to use the floor wing or not, so I guess you could class that as a possible, mistake.

I like his books, I find his channel a little hard to watch it needs to be scripted.

Not really a fan, click on the odd one mainly from links from this site telling me not watch then you got to watch to find out why you shouldn't lol.

People sometimes get nostalgic for the oldways where 500 hp smallblock took talent and a skill not catalog and a credit card.
And a Chinaman, banging out all the parts !!!!

Wasn't hotrodding all about ingenuity and making the most of what you have?

The days of Catalogues and Credits Cards will soon be ending with the current culmination of the end of the current monetary expansion.

We're going back to the ingenuity part very soon but most here wont understand that statement.

Not for much longer........

Personally, I don't think I'd play with anything from the deck down unless I really had to, apart from milling the deck . No rod work, no balancing, no fancy pistons. It would be nice to get some thinner rings in there but unless you have a trick up your sleeve, you won't be doing that with a factory piston.
Do the heads, do the manifold, size the cam and play with the carb. Dyno it, see what you get and then just go from there.

At the rate we're going, I'm considering learning how to be a wheelwright or a blacksmith.

Don't laugh REAL skills will always be in demand. This current hyper financialization of the economy won't last. Watch what happens to spending cycles when house prices crash significantly like they did in 2008. Rates are Rising.........

We'll be back to the junkyard for parts like the days of yore.

Errr....IOP 318 bore diameter 4.11?

Mine looks like the quicky port. He should just do port molds to tell the difference.

I'm not trying to be a ARSS hat at all but here is just a couple examples of grate stuff on U-Tube

I have NO desire to run build or own a drag bike, But his podcast are good and i don't miss a one of them. after he finishes is podcasts, his wife down load them to U-Tube. and that were i watch them.
https://www.youtube.com/@GeorgeBryceStar

Then you have jakck arss like this that polute the u-tube air waves.:poke::lol:

UTG bs on youtube.

The tube has plenty of good solid info, Ultimate Trashy Garbage isn't one of them. Frame Connectors are bad... NUFF SAID

Only reason I'd hit his channel is by accident.

Who’s frame connectors, mine on the pinion video?
I Would like to here your thoughts on that.
Point it out and educate me.

UTG said frame connectors were bad for Mopars, rips out spot welds. Think of the alternative and what happens without frame connectors. Stupid is as stupid does.

Move the goalpost, click bait, fanbois that are gullible, keep clicking on his channel and buying him tobacco. He'll continue the verbal diarrhea as long as folks keep clicking.

I‘ll take a shot at this. Bakerlite is a big boy so I don’t speak for him. If he has something to add he is perfectly capable of do it.

I never said Servedio was making mistakes. Since I’ve been porting heads since 1988 I knew exactly what he was getting into. A ton of work for sure.

IMO, he could have made more air (and more power) with way less work. That was my big criticism of the whole project. That and they are changing up quite a bit of stuff from what UT originally laid out.

If you get the chance, watch all of the videos Servedio put on YouTube. Don’t forget to at least LIKE his videos when you watch or better yet, subscribe and LIKE. It helps get his content out there.

Anyway, watch his videos and see how he went about figuring out where the air was, where it wasn’t and how he got it to do what he wanted. He did damn good work and anyone can learn some things from him.

What impressed me the most (as I’m a HUGE advocate of steeper than 45 degree valve seats for most everything) was that Servedio spent the time to grind a 50 degree valve job on there and test it. And it‘s harder for him because he is doing it with a stone.

Its much easier, quicker and simpler to use a seat and guide machine or a mill to used a forming tool to cut the seats, doing all the cuts at the same time.

It looks like he’s never done a 50 before, or maybe not many and his results mirror mine. And he kept with it, chipping away here and there until he got some impressive numbers out of that casting.

My problem was never with doing the project. It was with what I knew what was coming and that was mission creep. And the sheer amount of time that was put into those heads.

I‘ve BTDT so I knew what was coming. I know I wouldn’t want to pay for the bill to port those heads.

His results speak for themselves and Servedio did a damn nice job. If it doesn’t make the power they want it won’t be because of his heads if they use them.
very well thought out and informative post worded in a non basterd way, some body slip you a happy pill or has rat been abducted by aliens??? lololol

Advice. Real world in person advice OR internet UTube advice. A guy has to be able to sort thru advice and use what works and work for him.

Then there is Hollywood.

The wife says I have to behave better. I’m filing for divorce tomorrow.

Or she is filing. You never know. LOL

Putting lipstick on a pig.
Turd buffing.
Stepping over donuts to pick up dog turds.

Lots of ways to call it what it is.
"Racing within a given set of rules" could be added to that list.

or could it be you two are made for each other?
I know me and mine are, my wife was raised by a lifelong Marine, she was trained to handle men like me. Plus she's a red head.

We have already talked about (post 419) which mopar 2 barrel intake manifold they might be running.

What about which stock 2 barrel carb (with mods) they will choose to run.

I would choose to run the mopar carb on the left to make the power.

The mopar 318 stock 2 bbl carb on the right is an economy carb and it's going to take some mods to bring it up to task.

Big difference between these 2 carbs right here.

Let's see what they come up with to give the 302 headed 318 enough fuel to rise to the occasion.
That Holley 2210 on the left was updated with a 2245 model. There is a plug above the PV which, if removed, allows the spring tension to be adjusted. They rate at ~[email protected]"Hg delta, the throttle bores are 1.55" & venturis are 1.385", I was running this on the "Killer6".
Using a 360 2bbl intake would make it a bolt-on.

The Holley 2245 has a 2-ring booster. This large-bore BBD has 1.562" throttle bores, & 1.314" venturis, with a single/traditional booster. And a metering rod/jet arrangement.
Diff pic of same carb I posted in the "other" MI thread, just rebuilt for My Buddy's survivor '71 Satellite Sebring-plus 383.

Which engines did the large bore bbd come on? Between the two carbs which do you think would have the potential to make the most power?

What do you get if you have a male turtle and a female turtle sitting on the kitchen sink?

The main ingredients to a pot of turtle soup.
