For other cage specs, you should refer to Section 21 of the rulebook: https://nationaldragster.s3.amazonaws.com/Rulebooks/2023_NHRA_Rulebook_22_11_08.pdf#page=326

My understanding is if the floor plates are bolted, then NHRA requires a top and bottom plate. If you weld the floor plates (which you should IMO), you only need one 6"x6" plate on top of the floor pan. Or the tubes can be welded to a frame outrigger connecting the frame rail to the inner rocker. That's how I did mine.

I bolted my procar seats where the stock floor doubler/stiffener plates are. If your mounts fall outside of those, I'd make some new stiffener plates with some 1/8" plate or figure out a way to tie the mounts into the frame somehow.
Awesome, thanks again that's a big help !!!

Today and tonight about 6 hours work, 2 of it spent looking for **** lol
I got my heads assembled last week and since I forgot my head gaskets Tuesday I got over to rats house with them today and installed them.
Buttered up the camshaft (Hughes 264-268) and installed the lifters. Like a dummy wanted to check something, flipped the engine over 1/2 way and out came 3 lifters & the cam already had a few break in cycles I believe. But I do have some good luck.
Anyways I put the pushrods and rockers on, to

my surprise the pushrods were still good for length after milling .080 off of the heads.
I did a blend from the Hughes valley pan intake port opening and took out quite a bit, not max wedge but 3/16 at pushrod pinch and about .200 of higher roof blended into the CNC finish 4 inches in.

Sorry, I put my pictures inside of a sentence.

Tommorow is oil system and whatever else I can do time permitting.

I'm starting the mini tub process.
Looks like I lost the paper templates, I should have left them in the stupid box. I'll figure that out though.
I figured I'd just send out a friendly public service announcement to all who have and will in the future... finding and drilling out Chrysler spot welds suck. It's a 70 swinger so maybe someone was stoned at work that day or couldn't wait to get off for some free love.
(Hippie freakin freaks)
I'll post some pictures asap.

Inside behind backseat.
Deck lid spring support stuff.
And wheel well things lol.
It's a race car I don't need springs for my deck lid, I'll chop er out.

On second thought, I'm going to help myself out before I go any further on the mini tub and layout the super stock wheel well opening template, that will give me much more room to work .
I was hoping to get started on my cage this weekend but my seat brackets won't be here until Monday.
Tomorrow I'm going to rats house to see about getting a little more done on my engine.

Here is some more engine coming together.
Tunnel ram needs a bit of work to fit better and still need to finish up the back carb and the tr linkage

Badass man, looks killer! What’s up with the tunnel ram?
Oh I need to open the bolt holes to bolt it on because the heads are milled so much.
Inside just need to do some matching between the top and bottom. No big deal...that's hotrodding.
Also my tunnel ram linkage is too short since I used 2 2 inch Spacer's.

Good deal, just wanted to make sure it’s wasn’t something big. What valve covers are you going with?

Both kits I bought didn't come with templates. I had to search their website for the instructions and print off the templates. Problem is, I couldn't get them to print the right size.... lol

That sucks, I know I had mine which sucks but I'm not sure which sucks worse.

Those Mopar performance cast aluminum things, I need to do a small repair on those also.
My evacuation breather was a bit loose, so out with the tig welder, I'm just going to weld some 4032 alloy plate to it and redrill a new hole.
Thin dirty cast like these valve covers should be a decent test of my red headed patience lol.
Rat will say I'm too calm to be a real redhead probably

Lol! It should look awesome once you get them fixed up.

did you have the intake milled?
I don't believe it is. I probably need to take .050 off of each side to make it right. Also the tunnel ram ports are smaller than my heads now so I still have to match that up too

So what are you using for wheel tubs?, I really wish I would have used the generic pro street style tubs in mine, room for miles to lower the car with 30 plus tall tires. I'm cramped right now with just the stock tubs widend.

Us cartool.
The more I look at it the more I think I'll do my own version, although for my build the factory tubs widened will probably work out fine but I have a few 55 gallon drums here that will be perfect for making nice tubs with a little work.
I definitely don't care about factory looking tubs and I can make this drum steel look like it belongs when I'm done (+ it will make my wife happy)
What size wheel and tire do you run ?

I wish I had pictures of the mini tubs the guy did in the blue duster I ran in the 80-90’s. They looked like stock and could handle a 14-31 slick.

Basically a 30x13x15 drag radial. I ended up moving my axle back 1.25 and lowering the car about 2.5 and it still fits good but I cannot go any lower. I thought the us car tool was the easy button so I used them as well but after the experience to me the easy button is get big honking tubs and fit/weld them in lol. And I don't care about the stock look either or I wouldn't run a chevy- I mean cowl hood.

Good point lol. My goal for my car is early 70s super stock stance but I'll see how it looks when it finally hits the ground. I do like a little bit lower- level look too though. I have a 29.5 11.5 15 which is about the same as your tire 30.6 tall, 13 tread

How quick are you
Looking to go and is it strip only or street strip.

I'd like the car to run a 10.00 and it's a strip only car.
I've never built a drag car all by myself but have been around some so I don't know exactly what to expect. I'm hoping the engine will creep close to 700 HP and the car weight 3300 or less with me and fuel I'm 180ish
