Hydrogen Hotrod

I want no part of it. H2 is not a high density fuel. It takes very high pressure and specialized containers. Can you spell O2/ N2/ welding bottles? Some of them are various ?? carbon fiber. All you need is a big enough crash, and....

Your argument applies to just about every form of energy.

Technically that can happen with both gas and diesel tanks. Seen many a semi do that

Times change technology progresses.
Gas engines are going to be replaced. Hydrogen is the most plentiful substance in the universe currently known to man.
Better then the alternative electric vehicles.
The Hindinberg aside from the hydrogen , had a gazillion gallons of Diesel fuel on board.

I'd get behind hydrogen before I ever endorsed EV.

As far as I know most hydrogen today is produced from natural gas (blue hydrogen). In the reforming process it takes natural gas and steam to free the hydrogen and a big electric driven compressor. The resulting CO2 is sequestered (pumped into the ground) or perhaps pipelined away for some other use. I know they are building a few of these plants in our area. Green hydrogen uses electricity generated from renewable resources in electrolysis although that doesn't mean its free or doesn't have an environmental impact. I have no idea if the economics are any good unless you consider the electricity to be free although I doubt the builders of solar farms will be giving away their electricity. For half of the vehicles in the US to be hydrogen or EV over 100M of them would need to be sold. That's over 5 years of car sales. We are many years away from having adequate electrical facilities in our neighborhoods and homes to charge electric cars on mass let alone build hydrogen refueling facilities. Either way I don't see hydrogen or EV being mainstream until after I'm done driving.

I will walk or go full hermit if they continue to force EVs down our throats like a rapist

So far as I can find, H2 is at 5-10K psi, which is starting at about double a welding O2 tank. I want no part of high pressure tanks in anything Im near

You haven't seen ANY diesel rigs explode like highly pressurized gaseous fuels can. The death rate for diesels that caught fire is actually very low

Anyone whose ever seen the head knocked off an oxyacetylene tank can attest to that first hand....and I've seen it. Well......actually, it was the oxygen tank, or I'd probably be dead. That tank fell over and the valve hit the side of the wrecker in the junkyard where I worked. It knocked the valve head off and when the tank hit the ground, it took off like a torpedo. It bored itself under several cars and finally ended up out in the woods after it went right through a chain link fence. I could only imagine what a hydrogen tank would have done.

Just in case there are infidel nonbelievers.......

Horizontally, cinder blocks are weak. Fun stuff for the Myhthbuster guys.

My main concern with H2 if fueling the car. The SLIGHTEST amount of static eletrictity (running a comb through your hair) can ignite H2. So how are they going to build safe H2 fueling stations for the general public.

You got THAT right! Too many idiots out there would blow themselves and somebody else up with them.

An alternative fueled Hot Rod, Love It

I'm looking into propane for the Dart.
IMPC0 will build you a square Holley pattern propane carb, with your desired CFM. The biggest problem I can see is how and where to mount the propane tank(s).

Advantages, no emissions to cause climate change, easy access to propane, could install above ground tanks and have a stash at home, no worries about the propane going bad.

However, the one great thing That I'm Interested in is very high octane. the range for octane in propane is between 112-115:eek:ctane.(IIRC)

Yes, dollar for dollar propane is slightly more expensive to use.
Yes. There will be start up costs for
The system

112-115 octane costs just a little more than gasoline, you can run a lot of compression on those numbers

Not the exact same but I’ve seen plenty explode into a ball of fire .

being very high octane. IIRC,
There was a guy a few years back that converted his duramax to run 100 percent propane. Despite costing more, his mpgs was in the 40s

Vegas taxis were running those systems in the 80s
