And....last week I needed a gal. of ATF.... aything.... O Really? was $23 and Wally was a little cheaper by maybe $2. An oil filer for that common SB was $13 at O Really and same brand same filter was $4.75 at Wally. Don't know whether to laugh or cry!!!! :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead: :elmer:  :realcrazy:

Everything is up in cost for sure...but the cars are selling for higher prices too! I sometimes wonder
if Rock Auto is anything other than a computer system. My parts seem to come from all over the place?

The economy is having an influence on "working man
collector car prices. Even high end cars are taking a hit. High prices but down and it varies by auction location too.
Anytime you have a lower end collector car, the lower end buyer is always seems to be straped for cash.
Llke my 75 six Hornet, needs almost nothing that I have for sale. For example. I ask the potential buyer, so what do you see it needs??
He replied the gas gauge does not work. Me. Can you find any Hornet in this condition for $3500???? Crickets.
Funny how the guy that goes to Mecum and pays $100,000 will tell you he intends to spend some more $$ to make it just like he wants.. but the guy buying a low end car that need basically nothing demands it be perfect and nothing but new or rebuilt everything!!!!! and he wants it for nothing.

My favorite pepperoni 20oz sticks that I like to cut up and snack on in the shop used to be around 7.00. Now they are 12.99

OK so we have had pretty bad inflation now for the last 2 1/2 years, but everytime I have to buy anything at the friggin "auto part store" now days, no matter whose name is on the door, IT is Rape! Crazy!
Yea I buy ALL I can at Rock or anywhere else but he local parts emporium!
Example: OK so its a Ford part, but does not matter what make. Example: 66 Ford starter relay. Rock is $8 plus some shipping.... the "other guy" is $30 local pickup. same part, same brand. ITS NUTS!!!!!!!!! :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :elmer:
You ain't seen nothing..............Try shopping from Canada with the currency exchange, Harmonized sales tax, and the cross border brokerage fees if using UPS etc.

Try shipping from Canada to Australia... Just got to bend over and smile :)

A large % of my parts come from Rockauto or Amazon too. Rockauto is way cheaper but shipping evens things out sometimes. The local auto parts stores can’t compete and could care less.

7.00 was too much. That **** is killing you. Ha, like i got room to talk. I think I pay 100 dollars a pound for my favorite jerky.

I am sure they are just that.

And the sodium will do you in. Ask my cardiologist after my open heart surgery

i could save a bit online but some of my local folks bend over backward for me and still have a wealth of advise. I'm not stumbling over a dollar to save a dime.

i just went thru this with tune up stuff for my D300 w/ a 383.

built the cart out at rock and cross shopped amazon. rock was still cheaper and had everything i specifically wanted brand/quality wise. the only thing was they didn't have a cap & rotor set with brass lugs, it would have to ship from another warehouse-- daggers-- but i still had the pricing. they didn't have autolite's either.

so i went to the local napa to get the plugs which wasn't too bad, only like $1.25 more than whatever rock had. but i asked them if they would price match the rest of the parts list and they either couldn't or wouldn't or didn't have the parts. even with the cap and rotor having to ship from another warehouse and getting dinged on shipping it was still less than half the cost than napa. the belts-- exactly the same brand, quality and part numbers were nearly 4x the cost.

yeah, i wanna support local but not at that cost. and not when your parts counter doesn't know a damn thing.

It doesn't do any good to ***** about it, We're all going to have to get used to it.
Pretty soon there will only be a couple sources to buy from, as the small man will be swallowed up in costs.
I buy allot of parts local at Napa, locally owned. I'll pay the extra 25% just to shoot the **** and keep him eating.
BTW I don't do Speedmaster Black Friday sale. lol Why would I Trick Flow is a better head.

A few years ago, my neighbor was working on a 69 Roadrunner for somebody. He said the guy wanted the front end rebuilt. I have a Moog book and looked all of the part numbers up and priced them on Rockauto. It was around 350.00. This guy was old school-didn't have a computer. He told me that they must be seconds for that price. He spent 1000.00 at CarQuest for the same parts. This is the same guy that said Thermoquads  were designed to have that bog in them. I felt sorry for the Roadrunner owner.

Pizza delivery guys are getting $22/hr here at Domino's.....so standard of living is definitely going up..

The O Reilly family back in Springfield has enough money and their stockholders can go pound sand. Back in Mo. the small towns close by had two independent parts stores, I bought all I could from them unless I was ordering from like Rock. Why Because I got good parts wih a LIFETIME guarantee by that local OWNER and better prices than O Reilly down the street.

Her in our little Tx. town, about 2 years ago, a guy moved in an bought out the local parts store. He raised the prices bad and went broke in less than a year. I bought ONE part fro him and figured out quick he was a bandit!

Yep thats me. But after 40-50 years building Mopars I bought 2 Ford projects! I have tons of NEW small parts from alternators down to ballast resistors! I wanted a 70-2 duster but did not feel like driving to Ar or Ok and was not paying stupid asking money for a Tx beaker. I should have bought that complete 63 Dart off my Mopar bud with a fresh slant for $1800 and hardly any rust! He was only a 10 hours trip!! :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:
Yep I looked at a Duster in the summer of 2019 the kid wanted 5 grand not too bad but it had issues and I offered 3800. He didnt bite oh well...LF frame rot major work inmy opinion that warrranted the low offer. It was a 318 auto car though engine ran good.

There was a nice Car quest what I call Mom and pop parts store in teh town I work. I used ot go there alot why? Itw as old school they had anything and if they didnt they could get it, goodparts counter people also, they even had a body work section where you could buy everything to paint a car including single stage paint. Anyway Auto zone literally moved in right down the street and they closed down. I really dont know why AZ isnt cheaper and teh parts arent really any better. If anything people r epaying more for overseas sourced knock off parts, I dunno...I still think they dont want us keeping these old cars running but theyll keep selling us junk parts untill we catch on...:)

I am not sure we are really in a state of inflation that sjust what they are telling us, some things are priced fair like tools. I bought a craftsman tape measure I think it was 12 dollars at Lowes. Thats not that bad now I suspect they arent selling like hot cakes as noone is really working these days but...if we were truly in a state of inflation that tape would be $25. :) I think they are recouping money lost from C 19 inflation is the excuse they are telling everybody.
