Thats about the only part I have seen fail but it is because the gap changed, and it rubs. Usually the upper shaft gets bent. Just happens.

Raining pretty good here now. Supposed to till Friday AM Dam just put barley straw in the pond also hope it all doesn't flush out! Hard to find it lately here.
My son works on windmill towers and when they repair the blades they always have left over cloth and resin that they throw away.
I get it from him for free.
Dry today, rain moves in near midnight, out of here by Tuesday morning.

AMC had a bad rep. I was given a Javelin AMX once good shape had a bad rod knock. Screw it it is a AMC we reved the piss out of it till it threw the rod. Took a while. Man one of the ones I should have kept. Think it was a 390 at?

My buddies at the body shop/tow service had a policy, any car they had to tow in and store that they had to lien sale to get the $$, if it wouldn't sell off it went to the salvage yard. However, not with a running engine. Little '63 Rambler wagon, couldn't sell it after the lien sale, gotta blow it up. The AMC 327 in it, got it running, hooked it up to a GI can full of gas, turned the throttle return spring round backwards and let it go. Little bugger run 45 minutes at WOT before it made a bad noise, almost forgot, we knocked the oil filter off with a wrecking bar to begin with

Jesus.. i was thinking of running a single 3" exhaust on my car to keep noise down plus i don't make a lot of power... just found a engine masters where they tested just that... dual 2.5" vs. single 3" and the 3" lost 40hp... i did not expect it to be that bad...
