"adjunct" maybe? as in joined or added? like press fit pins?
or maybe "adjust" as in hone the little end of the rod for fit?

well, yes.The industry calls that pin fitting. That’s what it should be called.
Yep 2300 gaskets and suchProbably $1500- 2000, depending on how much work is needed. That was boil block, install cam brgs, freezeout plugs, balance lower end, and clearance block for stroker crank and hone cylinders. Block was already bored 30 over, so just honed sleeves.
I forgot to mention that he built his sbc for under $6700 for everything
I don't know for sure if he still has the parts list. He got some awesome deals on those eBay stores, he showed me the cost difference and ebay was a lot cheaper than the mail order stores.Yeah, I’d want to see the parts list and all the numbers ofc the dyno for that.
Going by that, it would cost like $6500 for a 360 horsepower 360. It's been said on here that you can get 400 horsepower from a 5.9 with bolt ons.2000 per 100 horsepower.
10,000 for a reliable 500 hp engine from carb to pan.
You're missing the key word, reliable. like I'm not afraid of taking it to the limit.Going by that, it would cost like $6500 for a 360 horsepower 360. It's been said on here that you can get 400 horsepower from a 5.9 with bolt ons.
yea that's usually where the first 2 grand goes2K in machine work
or if you're like me, the first 2K goes into buying a block, and then a crank and rods, then realizing that one or all of that is crap so then you buy better stuff, and you're half way to 6700 before you hit the machine shop and the heads you bought off johnny race gas needs exhaust seats and all the guides, so you might as well upgrade that **** too cuz they're bro'ing you out at the machine shop but it'll be like 3 months till you see any of your parts back.yea that's usually where the first 2 grand goes
He ran speedmaster cylinder heads and he did all of his own port work. Remember, this is a sbc and they cost about half of what a sbm would cost. I wish that I could remember the name of the parts that he used. He got a forged crankshaft for $400. Like I mentioned earlier he bought everything from ebay stores. I believe that the machine work costs $1500.00. You need to check out those eBay stores if you already haven't done so. They have some good prices on their products. Compression ratio was 12.5:1, 6" "H" beam rods, I think that the intake is a victor and a holley 850, 1 3/4" headers, comp sft cam I don't remember the specs. I'll see if he still has the parts list and prices.i'm calling shenanigans on that 650hp 406 for 6.7. you'd need nearly half that in heads alone to put down that kinda juice.
yeah, maybe he got some deals but two things: one, how long are those questionable parts gonna hang out-- especially if he cheaped out somewhere on something; and B- the machine work costs what the machine work costs. unless you have some back room deal, that's at least 2K in machine work: converting to aftermarket 4 bolt mains, align hone, deck, blah blah blah and then throw all the ARP **** at it.
post up the receipts oscar meyer or get to steppin'
He ran stock 400 block. I don't remember the exact details but he said something about the block having a higher nickel content I believe it was. I do know that it was a truck block that he had machined for 4 bolt splayed main caps, align bored, bored / honed 0.030" with torque plates, had 0.010" cut from the deck surface. Ran forged pistons, "H" beam rods, comp roller rocker arms, balanced, he selected parts, machine work, assembly in case he decided to use nitrous. But he never did. Transmission was a built turbo 350 and a ford 9" with 4.10 or 4.56 gears, I don't remember anymore on the gear ratio. I think that he ran a 4000 stall. Anyway, 406 sbc cranking out 650 flywheel horsepower for under 7k isn't bador if you're like me, the first 2K goes into buying a block, and then a crank and rods, then realizing that one or all of that is crap so then you buy better stuff, and you're half way to 6700 before you hit the machine shop and the heads you bought off johnny race gas needs exhaust seats and all the guides, so you might as well upgrade that **** too cuz they're bro'ing you out at the machine shop but it'll be like 3 months till you see any of your parts back.
I'm calling BS. Especially using Speedmaster Heads. 650hp sbc is in AFR , Brodix territory.I forgot to mention that he built his sbc for under $6700 for everything
He bought the cylinder heads new but I don't know if they were bare or not. I do know that he had a 3 angle valve job done along with a back cut on the valve's. He reworked the bowl area. But my luck would be like you said. Now he's building a 4.3 V/6 for his vega. Heads are stock, they are ported, milled 0.030", thinner head gaskets, he's running the biggest factory 4.3 cam, custom built headers, edelbrock intake with a fuel injection set up, hei distributor, od transmission and 3.73 gears. He's looking for 250 flywheel horsepower. It's strictly a fun car for cruisesor if you're like me, the first 2K goes into buying a block, and then a crank and rods, then realizing that one or all of that is crap so then you buy better stuff, and you're half way to 6700 before you hit the machine shop and the heads you bought off johnny race gas needs exhaust seats and all the guides, so you might as well upgrade that **** too cuz they're bro'ing you out at the machine shop but it'll be like 3 months till you see any of your parts back.
You can think that if you want to. I'll see what size intake runner's those heads have. The engine was designed and built to spin to 7500-8000 rpm's. This guy knows his stuff.I'm calling BS. Especially using Speedmaster Heads. 650hp sbc is in AFR , Brodix territory.
Remember, he did port work on those heads too. He's a darn good mechanicI'm calling BS. Especially using Speedmaster Heads. 650hp sbc is in AFR , Brodix territory.
