Got the big color chart for wiring the car. I’m going to attach it to a smooth piece of plywood and then tape over it with clear packaging tape to keep it nice for a long time.
An time I guy a project, there are a few things on must have list, 1. FSM 2. that laminated color keyed wiring diagram!
I am the epitome of dumb with electrical and this sheet is so much easier to read than this FSM.
Painter came over yesterday. He asked me what I wanted, body work wise? Idk I told him I want it to be really nice, smooth body and clean paint. I want like really nice….
I’m going to add mini tubs, that way it’s done and I don’t have to worry about cutting and painting again later on if I want them later.
He is going to get back to me with a date/time he thinks he will be able to get it in shortly. He is currently finishing a 67 corvette convertible paint job, it is using paint that costs 2k per gallon!
Part of me loves the copper but other parts of me think I should go back to a blue. How did people ever decide on a color to get their cars? Every time I say I want a new truck I always pick black or blue…

I know, it’s that season, I really need to go through and start videoing, then writing down parts that I have. That way if anything ever happens to the house or shops I can have it for the insurance

i found the worst part of a workshop insurance claim is some time later you find (or don't) something you didn't realise you'd lost until you need it. we had to leave the claim 'open' for 3 months for that reason. documenting what you have is a great idea.

Home owners insurance hates to pay for anything!!!!!
Yeah I just have it with my home owners. My buddy in town in a State Farm Agent, he said to walk around and video everything. Then write down what you have in the videos. Then store that video and paper on a Google drive, this ensures that the insurance company can’t argue much.
My problem… I don’t have the list of crap that I bought haha. I may be able to get it from the guy, he had a pretty detailed list of what was all in the parts piles.
This is true. I asked my agent about putting separate insurance on my shops/cars and he said it would all be listed under my homeowners.
Wiper pivots and wiper pivot arms got cleaned then painted with some “Stainless Steel” colored spray paint from tractor supply, it looks great! Also dries super quick which is good.
Wiper pivots I added zerc fittings so I could regrease them. I made the one hole a little bigger unfortunately… so I sealed it all with a little JB weld. We will see if it works after the JB dries, if it functions nicely I’ll finish painting it. If not I’ll add a new pivot.
I have new gaskets and everything for them but don’t need to install them all yet.

Well the wiper pivot I kind of blew the hole out on, that wiper pivot spins perfectly . The one that I drilled “without problems” has a hitch in it when I spin it. I need to finish filling it with new grease then I’ll try it some more, if it still has a hang up I’ll have to grab another wiper pivot. I may have one or 2 laying around somewhere.
Doc, whatever deal you make with the painter, get it in writing and both of you sign it. Just my .02, it can't hurt.

Two thousand dollars a GALLON?? I know Ive been out of the trade for a bit, but that seems pretty outrageous for paint. Can you find out what it is? Id really be interested in knowing what paint costs that much money. Unless he was talking total materials, thats more understandable.
some of that translucent paint is crazy $$$ but a gallon can spray a couple of cars think it just added to the clear

I know that chameleon (or color change) paint was crazy stupid expensive when it first came out, but that was decades ago, it must have calmed down by now.
