right on. i'm not hating roller cams but it can be done with a SFT.I run my NON roller cam engine same RPMs, shift at 6800 and cross the stripe about 7500

I don't hate roller cams either, but if you can do it with SFT then why not. For myself i just have a hard time with all the money it takes to run a roller cam.right on. i'm not hating roller cams but it can be done with a SFT.
Exactly. Money plays a big part of it. When I put the 355” together I had no extra money for a roller setup.I don't hate roller cams either, but if you can do it with SFT then why not. For myself i just have a hard time with all the money it takes to run a roller cam.
It doesn’t take long to hit 7000. Basically let go of trans brake and hit second gear lolMy old 360 W2 motor with similar build but roller cam and rockers would blow past 7500 so fast I had to set my shift light at 6800. I swear it was faster than my current W2 408 .
In my mind the W2 is one of the best performing heads out there. The W2 heads will let it breath that's for sure
Those lines are for methanol. It leaves pretty good. Are the intake runners tapped for nitrous? I bet the launch is special with the 6200 converter!
What tunnel ram did you run?I was told the same thing when I had a 2-750’s TR on a 410” SB.
My 414” has 2 toilets, 2870 cfm

Holley pro dominator on the 410”What tunnel ram did you run?
Just curious, I'm not a racer but it usually seems the other way around that the shift points are at higher rpms than the stripe, why is yours the other way ? where do you make peak power ?I run my NON roller cam engine same RPMs, shift at 6800 and cross the stripe about 7500
From what I've heard a SFT can be more aggressive on some cams depending on lift duration range compared to roller.right on. i'm not hating roller cams but it can be done with a SFT.
First time I drove a 9 second car I noticed that right away....It doesn’t take long to hit 7000. Basically let go of trans brake and hit second gear lol
I upgraded to air shift, haven’t used it yet but I have a feeling I’m gonna like it.First time I drove a 9 second car I noticed that right away....
It’s possible. From what I've heard a SFT can be more aggressive on some cams depending on lift duration range compared to roller.
You want enough gear to get you going, and shift within peak HP, but most of the time you will be pass that rpm at the finish line. In Stock Eliminator its even worst because you have no cylinder head flow.Just curious, I'm not a racer but it usually seems the other way around that the shift points are at higher rpms than the stripe, why is yours the other way ? where do you make peak power ?
true statement. have to get the car off the line quickly. You want enough gear to get you going, and shift within peak HP, but most of the time you will be pass that rpm at the finish line. In Stock Eliminator its even worst because you have no cylinder head flow.
How tall are your rear tires? Years back a buddy and I decided to play with his 72 Demon 318. Threw on and in a bunch of left over parts and a 4.10 gear and the thing rewarded us with a mid/low 14. The car was bad dead out of the hole and kinda figured the 480 lift (unknown duration etc) Wolverine cam was retarded since Gary just lined up the dots even though I told him I had a degree wheel etc. The exhaust note was pretty loud and that can be another indicator.true statement. have to get the car off the line quickly.
i have 4.86 gear in the car now which works awesome. i did try a 4.30 gear for a weekend to see the difference and it was not good. hurt the 60' and naturally the same with ET and MPH. i don't remember the #'s but it was enough for me to switch back to the 4.86 gear.
