Another battle reassembling my '70 Dart...the new door jamb switches I bought are too small. I seems my car takes the large 1/4" npt nla switches and not the 1/8 npt switches. On the passenger side I have one of the old large ones and I made an adaptor to fit a new 1/8" npt switch for the drivers side. Wiring....on the driver's side I see two yellow wires in a bullet connector in the kick panel area. Is there supposed to be a pigtail going to the switch? On the passenger side I found the original large diameter 2 prong switch dangling with its wires connected to the harness wrapped with electrical tape (some old splice I guess). I don't see how you could install these without a pigtail to feed through, connect to the switch, thread in the switch and then make the connection in the kick panel area. Is this how it was done?

Not referring to the different sizes of switches, there are two different types of switches used.
1. Single bullet connector
2. Two post connector

The single is the normal one, the double is for if you have the lighting package.
The lighting package has its own harness.

So you may have the wrong style switch (not just the size)

Plug the wire on the switch, screw the switch to the car. You can't access the back of the switch to plug in wires after switch is installed.

So the wires are supposed to get twisted?

Figure how many turns the switch needs to be installed. Twist the switch and wire that many turns the opposite direction.

By the way the center pin (red or yellow) of the push switch should spin freely in the switch so you can what dadsbee said, hold the plunger with a plyer and then tighten the switch body into the piller.

Also the switches are self adjusting. After install you shut the door and the sleeve (green) presses into the threaded section to make the switch just the right length.

Use some tape to protect your paint.

Hold the plunger with a pair of needle nose or hemostats. Thread it in.
Yes I see now how the body turns independently. I’ll still need to make a pigtail for one side as the wires are way too short…small problem.

My post has the link embedded in the description You should be able to click it. Alternatively, search for EL0091 which is the SKU for the product. Hope that helps.

I meant when I searched for it a few days ago
