Purolator, Fram, K&NSo, who is producing a filter in the US?
Purolator, Fram, K&N
Wix is still making filters in the US.So, who is producing a filter in the US?
The K&NOf the 3 made in USA as you state which 1 do you recommend
marginal to okay, unless it's Purolator One. country of origin variesPurolator,
crapFram,
overpriced crap, unless it's K&N select and then it's just overpriced. most are made in china.
Wix is making filters all over the world. Depends on the number where it's made.Wix is still making filters in the US.
You really hafta watch which oil filters you use these days. Fram, Wicks, K&N have all been bought out by foreign companies and turned to crap. Yes, even K&N is crap now. These foreign countries have cut corners to improve profits and ruined the original products, but they still look the same.
Coupla years ago there were some incidents in which Drag Racer's oil filters were exploding on top end runs and trashed the Cars.
Cheap oil filters in race cars is really a NO NO, nowadays. Nobody cared before because even the cheap ones had to pass US standards...not anymore.
No standards overseas.
I only run Moroso race filters on my Mopar engines. And only Cummins or Mopar filters on my Dodge Dually (cause Moroso does not make a Dually filter, that I know of).
I replaced all the Wicks I was using.
Exactly. They're still making them in the US though.Wix is making filters all over the world. Depends on the number where it's made.

Good point . Everybody (well, most everybody) assumes any Chinese is garbage. It depends on what quality the vendor REQUIRES! Obviously, if the vendor doesn't care, he'll get cheap garbage. If good stuff is required, the Chinese can, and will, do it.exactly. i have an entire parts room full of wix and napa filters and they're from all over the place: usa, germany, china, mexio, thailand
i'd 100% run a wix or napa gold made in china filter on anything i own. it's made to their spec and i know it's better than a fram.
I went to Runnings and Oreilly this past weekend to get an oil filter for my Toro time saver mower. The only ones I could find were Wix. I would certainly agree with Dan the man about being American and Buying American when possible!
I used to work for a company..."American Highway Technology" in Kankakee Illinois. We made custom rebar and concrete support assemblies for American Highways. Somehow, we ended up with a plant slightly over the border in Mexico. It was rumored it was previously a facility for gym equipment manufactured for Wal Mart. The gym equipment company went belly up for the exact reasons RRR posted. I believe AHT also got "caught" for not making these products completely in the USA.WalMart has such a huge amount of buying power that they can tell manufacturers how they want products made. I know that the tires they sell are not the same tires you can buy elsewhere. They are cheaper runs of similar tires available in their manufactirers vendors elsewhere. You cannot get the "WalMart" versions anywhere else. For example, the Good Wrangler tire you get from WalMart is not the same Goodyear Wrangler tire you get from a Goodyear store, or a bonafide Goodyear dealer. I don't know if that holds true to oil filters and other items or not, but I hold it suspect.
