Wiper motor drive mechanism on 63 Dart making rubbing noise. How do you get access?
Remove instrument panel, go under dash?
Has anyone any info on best way to access the drive mechanism ?
Thanks

Yep, all under the dash, as long as you don't have AC you should be able to stand on your head and lay on your back and see the motor and linkage you may want to take the front seat out unless your young and flexible. There are 2 different options for wipers in 63, single speed and variable speed. The Motor and wiring and switch and linkage are completely different so when you buy parts make sure and get the correct ones. 63 is kind of unique as in 64 they changed the firewall to make room for the V8 engine, and I doubt 62 uses the same setup.

Thanks , was afraid of that. Just finished the under dash AC install.Just my luck.
Thanks for the info, now to see if I can get enough visual just looking from the sides

I have a 63. I don't think they are different other than the bracket under the dash that the motor mounts to with the relocation due to the firewall change for the V8 in '64. You should be able to look under there and see what is going on.

Thanks Jim,But the gear train( transmission if you will) on the Wiper motor sounds like it is out of oil or misaligned.
I am looking for a new or good working motor.I can access via glove box door opening and radio hole in dash, that is easy. Finding the motor seems impossible. 64 went to motor on fire wall under hood. Not the same
No parts house has listing for 63 Dart.

'64 is still under the dash. All that is different is that in '63 there is a bulge on firewall where it mounts and in '64 the firewall was smoothed out and they welded a bracket on the backside of the firewall to windshield frame. If they are not the same between '63 and '64 they are darn close.

…and redesigned the wiper motor. Yes, the '63 A-body wiper motors really are '63-only, and the '64-'66 motors are a different litter of kittens.
