For the money, it is a decent unit but....
The window that you look through while blasting needs some sort of sacrificial plastic cover to keep the sand from hitting it.
Harbor Freight is quite happy to sell you a new sandblaster but they don't stock those small sheets of plastic. It looks like they are approximately 12" x 24". The blast cabinet came with three or 4 of the plastic sheets with self adhesive strips to attach the sheets to the inside.
What kind of BS business model is it to only sell stuff but not also sell replacement parts? I friggin hate the mentality that everything is disposable and subject to replacement.
Yeah....with as cheap as many chinese parts are, it does not make sense to fix something when replacement cost is about the same. How froggin hard would it be for them to offer these plastic sheets?
I could just cut my own sheets and attach them with my own tape but it sure would be better if HF has these on the shelf.
I've checked a couple of stores and have been told to Go to the website.
That is bullshit because the site does not list them.
I guess I will just find some clear plastic somewhere and make my own.

I've had the largest version they sell for about 20 years. Same basic design. I added a vevor dust separator and have been using garnet media. Went to Northern Tool because they listed the best price for crushed glass and they were completely clueless.

I am still on the original window. Part of that is probably from having a larger cabinet so I can blast further away but I am always trying to make sure the ricochet doesn't strike the window directly.

You can buy acrylic sheet online, mcmaster, home depot storm window material, or a local glass shop.

TP tools has the protectors, and also upgrades you can use on it. I have the same one use it daily, added a dust separator and modified the gun, now its a worhorse!
How did you modify the gun ? Mine doesn't blast worth a chit !
And who is TP ?

Its on the net. Basically enlarge the area the pick up tube is. cant find it. The area in the gun itself where the siphon tube is to the nozzel needs to be bigger. find it.

We use a couple similar units just much larger where I work. I'm not sure where they are sourced from, but we used to have layered windows that could just be peeled and discarded until the get to the tempered glass. We also never use silica because it destroys the pickup tube, gun liner...pretty much anything in its path. I can remember running out of stock and just cutting some acrylic from a sheet using the original as a pattern. If you want that unit to last, try and avoid silica as your media

I have a glass window from TP tools and also the protection sheets works well. I use it pretty much every day and really need a drier for the input air.

Have to drill it out bigger or what ?
Grinder works, I used a 1/4 die grinder. Once you take it apart you will see it. Media depend what you blast. I do alot of aluminum so it is a mix. Glass and walnut Oxide is great for heavier rust. Really depends what you use it for.

The local chinese tool company up here (Princess Auto) sells those clear window protectors. Its a consumable for the cabinet. The glass should be tempered and not cheap to replace. If its a siphon cabinet they don't work worth crap without mods. Just google 'cabinet metering valve mod'. It makes a huge difference in performance and stops plugging. I run the cabinet with about 2 cups of media in it.

We have 7 different blast cabinets. All with different media for different purposes. We order all our media, the 12"x24" protection sheets, the 12"x24" glass windows and whatever replacement parts we need from Trinco (Trinity Tool). They are the manufacturer for all of our cabinets.
