Love the truck, and nice to hear from you!! You know, you're comments are always welcome on my channel and my threads! My 74 tool truck has a slant and its staying a slant. Plenty of torque and reliability.
Of course I'm not trying to do killer burnouts with 600 pounds of tools on board.

My Dad had a '68 Valiant with the 225. Absolutely was a runner. Great on gas too. We've owned a lot of slants actually.I have a slant, 64 Fury 2dr Ht. Smooth comfy driver with 30,000 mi. I like it.
My sister's first car was a '62 Dart with a poly 318. It beat my brother's big C.I. Caddy in a 0-80 race.. LOL (472 or 500?? one of them.. )Also 3- Poly 318’s…..
How long was that race? Like 13 minutes? My sister's first car was a '62 Dart with a poly 318. It beat my brother's big C.I. Caddy in a 0-80 race.. LOL (472 or 500?? one of them.. )

And to be perfectly honest, the ONLY mopar I've had knock was a main bearing in a slant I had to replace. I've seen a few others as well. However, I don't know the history or correct mileage of those engines to be fair. I will say I've had 318's with blinking oil lights at idle, and have beat them to death and never have lost a small block mopar. The only thing I have ever swapped a slant six into, was.......the scrap bin. There durability is overrated in my opinion, I've seen hundreds of them with rods hanging out the side. A plain old 318 2 barrel is more reliable in my opinion.
I've kinda said it's not so much about power....Add a turbo.
But see... I don't have racing in mind... it's for a lot of other reasons... and power is on the list, but below a few other boxes checked... lolI won't, you can't make me, I just couldn't bring myself to.
I pretty sure those went the same place 360's and 400's went back in the day. I regret sending the 360's and 400's

If I was gonna do any kinda swap I'd put a 440 in it.Exactly. There are many good reasons to keep the slant in, but it's all in the eye of the beholder. Make your vehicle to your liking is what I always say

Do what makes you happy- as long as you don't LS it. Then I'd have to hunt you down...![]()

Thanks for the tip! I have the mounts, pans and exhaust to put a SB or BB in it. But I'm not looking to build a hot rod, so we'll see what I decide to plop inA friend of mine swapped out a /6 to a 440 in an 80's step side. He bought all the factory mounts, pan, etc. He liked to have never got it to line up right in the truck. Ended up, he had to knock out different holes in the frame where the motor mount insulator goes in. @318willrun I don't know if the same applies to /6 to small block swaps. The dimples where the insulator goes supposedly just knock thru with a punch and a BFH.
I've never heard of any of that, but as they say "I ain't seen it all".A friend of mine swapped out a /6 to a 440 in an 80's step side.
