Not at all! In this angle from a long time ago, you can see how well a 315/60 tucks into the minitubbed wheel well. I'm hoping to find someone with experience with the 295/65s. I'm curious how true to size the OD is. In theory, they should be pretty close to the same OD as the 315/60, but you know how that goes. I don't have a ton of extra room to play with and would hate to blow $700 "experimenting."

1968 Barracuda Convertible with Nitto 275/60-R15's on 8" rims. They don't rub. Not too many drag radials available in 275/65-R15 on Summit's site.

How about M/T ET Street S/S P295/55-R15's on an 8" wide rim? These are the avatar's street tires.

I have 295 60 d15 hoosiers on a 68 barracuda ,not tubbed , fenders rolled ,3/4'' offset spring hangars , front leading edge moved even to inner fender panel < stock contour .
I`m on a chrome book and cant post pics , look at my Avatar pic , those are 295 65 15 drag radials , which didn`t hook up for me ...

I refuse to move the rear axle back , which puts less weight on the rear end of the car , I have enough traction problems the way it is .
We moved the axle forward on the old hemi belvedere which did help a small amount , 341002-003 springs on a b body ...

I'm no 100% sure what you mean by roll them over, but I think you mean how much the deflect or roll during hard cornering. They haven't ever rubbed yet, no matter what I've thrown at them.

Depending on air pressure the sidewalls can feel squirmy, adding more pressure stiffens up the sidewall significantly.

I chalk the tread on all my tires to see what air pressure allows them fully contact the pavement, assuming correct rim sizing.

I run 18psi on the street and bump that up to 24 for spirited road course type driving. The difference feels like two different tires. They do help the car feel predictable in the corners, but they definitely don't like to be upset once they take a set in a given cornering situation.

If the tire's in it's happy temperature range, I would have to pedal it and it would spin about 10 feet before dead hooking and allowing full throttle.

My buddies "Heckcat" was running the factory street type tires on the day we raced, so I got him out of the hole pretty good, although he would come charging past me just after the end of the 1/4 mile that day.

I was running just under 400hp at the wheels back then with 3.91's and a 2.76 to 1 first gear ratio automatic. I'm currently updating that to 820hp at the flywheel with a supercharger and better heads, so I'll see how that affects things. I suspect it will be a little different.

I got some good info from Mickey Thompson tech this morning. 295/65s it is. They should be about 3/8" narrower per side at the section than the 315/60s and even a tad shorter on the same 10" wheel, but not much. Exactly what I'm looking for.

Not as tall.
Mini tubbed,springs under frame.
Narrowed 6".
I plan on moving the rearend back about 1/2",should get 29s in tightly.
Plus I can go 2" wider with 1" more back spacing.

When you guys are mini tubing, are you flattening out the lump in the outer wheel well?

That will rub if rear is low or tire is tall. Should give you some more room.

I'm running 275/60/15 Nittos on 8 inch wheels on the back of my 67 Barracuda. No mods necessary to wheel well, wheel well opening or trim, springs, rear axle, etc. I'm impressed with the workmanship on some of the cars posted here to get larger tires to fit, but I only have maybe 400 hp, so the 275/60s are enough.

Is the 295 tire selection weak? I think he's looking one step wider if he can find a reasonably priced pair of 15x10 Centerlines.

Only has 275's with 15x8 now.
