Gas pedal/carpet install

Probably a dumb question, but im hoping to install a new carpet in my 64 dart this weekend.

One thing im not sure of is if the pedal (v8) mount bolts through or under the carpet. Should it sit on the floorboard or on the carpet?

Does anyone have a picture of theirs the can share?

I bolted my pedal through the carpet after locating the mounting holes from underneath the car. I heated a Philips screwdriver which went very easily though the carpet eith a clean hole

So you have the carpet in between the floor pan and pedal mount?

Thats how I did mine, except used a soldering iron.
Also, the way the old carpet was installed.

So you have the carpet in between the floor pan and pedal mount?

Yes, that’s how it was installed when I took out the old carpet

mine was through the carpet also but I cheated and did a later model pedal (floating pedal) I like that much better since I'm doing A/C conversions and custom floor mats for my cars

Just finished installing. No way the studs were long enough to go through the carpet, mass backing and jute that was installed there. Had to cute a small hole for the mounting plate to go directly through the floorboard.

Maybe could have cut out the padding and jute instead of carpet?

I went with a "U" shaped cut in the carpet to get through the sound deadening then folded the carpet back between the bracket ears. Came out clean and the studs were long enough
