Chatter about these on the internet is scarce. I just thought I'd post it here for education and entertainment. It was a '71 Diesel Dart that sold about a year ago in downstate New York..

Yeah, you see um pop up every now and again. You'da FIGURED they'd put the 727 behind it though.

When the Chrysler group owned "Barreiros", some 1400 diesel powered Dodge Darts were manufactured in Spain, for local market. The 2 liter 4 cyl 65 hp diesel engine was quite slow, the cars were offered for taxis and fleet use. I remember these Spanish made Dart, we use to go to Spain on vacation every year in the 70's and these "large" cars were amazing.

2X

I've never even seen one of the adds and there were plenty popular mechanics and mechanics illustrated mags around me during those years.
Ya, I'm thinking these car were very low production.

Gotta ask.....did someone paint that motor yellow on a lark?? Or are they meant to look like someone just pulled the drivetrain out of a bulldozer??

I have seen posts and info about these in the past....certainly never seen one in person.

That drivetrain in a right hand drive Aussie Valiant Ute. My idea of the perfect unique, quirky old-man putt-around car.

There were also some 1970s Dodge trucks with diesel engines. I believe they were Perkins if I remember right.

No....looks like they were Mitsubishi diesels.
And they had a rep for not having much power.

Can you TURBO this thing?

Yeah they had a turbo option someone else said for an additional 500 clams.
I had an International straight truck with the in line 6 turbo diesel. It was huge and could'nt get out of its own way.....sounded great tho.

Almost off the subject, but Im hearing that guys are getting pulled over in their EV Chargers for setting the fake sound effects on "sport mode".

I dunno, man. The firewall connections look goofy. No photos of VIN plate or fender tag.

That's.... Clearly not correct. Someone needs to call Roger Gibson or Frank Badalson. What's Galen say? It's trash until Galen approves.
