Just what the title says, how does one remove the trip mileage knob on a 1966 Barracuda speedometer bezel? I need to replace the front plastic dash on it.

They free wheel backward to prevent loss or theft. I always removed the 2 screws from back of the instrument so it leaves the housing with the bezel. Ample stem to hold in there. No need to scar the bezel.

The dash is getting transferred into the original dashboard that came with my Barracuda.

I swapped out the 65 dash for a 66 Barracuda dash in my 65 Dart wagon conversion so i could use the 66’s cluster with the tach and an oil pressure gauge. I wrnt a step further with a Dakota Digital gauge conversion. Since my bezel was already finished, I just left the odometer reset hole empty and called it good,

Looks good
Just a thought,,,
Something like this might fill that empty hole. One wire to hot at all times makes it blink. 1 wire to hot at switch on (turn for example) stops the blinking.
One downside is attaching to the cars circuits. There are little tap thingies to poke in a fuse clip with the fuse but those stretch the clip. Taps on wires like scotchloc or T tap works but the link in those is not a knife meant to cut wire casing. You'll need to clear a tiny bit of casing with a wire stripper or some sharper something To install.
