Has anyone ever attempted or seen a way to convert the hood latch from exterior open to interior hand pull?

Preferably it would be cable operated with a spring on the hood latch.

You would still have the latch catch that is uncovered after moving the latch in the grill, but in order to access the latch under the hood (we shall call this the secondary latch moving forward), you need to use the hood pull inside the car.

I have not looked into the current design to see if possible, but I mean with a little effort it's feasible.

I would think it would be pretty simple. You'd just have to figure out how to best do it and then do a junk yard search for the hardware that fits your idea.

I had this novel idea about using electricity from the battery to start the car using some sort of 12 volt starter motor.
Also, the concept of internal combustion has some interesting possibilities.

Where have you been? Every new car has a lever or something to open the hood with the secondary latch accessible from outside.
Numerous A bodies had this in the mid 70s.
I even did something similar for the trunk for my 72 Duster.

These cars came with inside hood catches. just have to put up a want ad . They are pull cable style. Just sold one. Also electric trunk latch that can be moved to the front on some cars with the room.

I put a later model hood release on my 67 fish. I always disconnect the battery cable after parking at home. Have to put it back on of course. That hood release inside screwed up my routine coming and going. Took it right back out again.
They say old habits are hard to break. I add "new habits are hard to make too." Carry on

If not, more info please. I want to add this to my '73 project and it wouldn't hurt my feels if there were options other than the stock one. My '74 has this option and the bracket feels kind of flimsy and the pull is pretty heavy.

Besides, something I can get out of a Pull & Save yard is generally going to be much cheaper.

I say figure out how to do it better than stock and you are on to something.

Nice thing is, now that you know the factory offered it, you can look at what they did and how to see if there are ways to make it better. Can it be done with the current latch, or will it require modifications? Thing like that.

My donor was a 75 Valiant Brigham Our 73 Valiant wasn't so equipped as that 75.
Neatest adaption of these features was the hood pull with a L shape bracket added. Electric trunk release button normally hidden in glovebox was at right side of hood pull.

I assume you mean a later model A-Body hood release?

A/B/C/E once the thing is cable operated it doesn't matter... The two mounting holes are the same across the board... The differences are in how the release handle was shaped to be accessible on the different body styles... The cable ones are all the same....

And as has been mentioned yes they were available on our cars starting in the early 70's but they were optional & not very common... They became more common as the years went by...

It doesn't slow thieves down, since all they gotta do is break a window to get in. So it's just fluff. Come up with something where you can pull a lever or mash a button from inside the car and the hood raises all by itself and you got something. This is a lazy world. You cash in on THAT and you could be rich.
