The black Dart was 572ci and the red Duster has an aluminum RB. Owner said he is an 8.50 1/4. The owner of the Red RR has had the car for roughly 40 years. We got to talking about SFT combinations, and the .590/312 DC solid. I was surprised when he said it was done by 5800 in his RB with 4.30:1. He switched to a .660 lift comp SFT, and he said it picked up beyond 6000, but he took out some teeth on the ring gear of his 8 3/4 and switched to a Dana with 4.10:1. NHRA had them constrained to 1/8th for some reason. Really nice folks!

Thanks a million for taking us there with the pictures....... The old Man has a good point but he fails to recognize its designed for extra volume... Looks like it achieves what they set out to do.................... Go real fast...... Just saying ..... Old Man.... Texas Red

You could turn that scoop around facing the windshield and get just as much and maybe even better air. I believe it has more to do with the space above the carbs due to a tunnelram or the such.

Wind tunnel test do prove what you are talking about........ I was just poking fun..... I find wind tunnel testing to be interesting
as lots is learned during those sessions, but very little information ever leaves the building. Rightfully so as they are paying the bill o
n the test sessions..... Nascar teams seem to experiment more in wind tunnels than anyone else in motorsports or it seems that way.
No expert in anything down here but I'm not afraid of failure .Texas Red....

The owner of the matte black Dart never had the hood off. I tried to take a peek in there, but he had a screen that was blocking what I could see.

Guys, uhmmmm.....there's a large pipe sticking out the passenger fender, willing to bet one on the other side.....either the scoop is making room for a tunnel ram, & runs zoomies w/collectors, or there's a pair of snails up there..

I'm going with the fuel injected turbocharger theory.
