Here are some pictures of where we are at. I'll post the before photo of our lack of floor pan, and what we ended up with, considering our limited fabrication skills. We are going with some under the dash universal pedals and a tilt steering column, which I'll include pics of as well. The pedal travel is going to be tricky with our brakes and where the gas pedal will live.

Obviously, if you're familiar with the slant six's you know that the alternator lives way the hell off to the passenger side. That did not fit with our configuration, so we did the best we could, making a mount out of scrap steel and a tensioner as well for a micro alternator.

Critiques, comments, all welcome.

Plugging away!

You need to find a factory driver's side alternator bracket set. They ain't easy to find.
If you are referring to the one that bolts to the block where the PS would go, your best bet is to locate one off a slant in sn A100

That’s what I’ll be using in my 47 Dodge

That and some of the real early A cars are all I know that had them.

Wow!! Love this build and the slant is looking proud, let me look in my stash of parts and see what I have, mybe @RustyRatRod can share a picture of the other mount for the alternator.

I can take a picture of the A100 bracket later this morning if needed

Yeah you know my stash pretty good. lol Here are the brackets and where they mount. And NO they AIN'T for sale, so let's get that right outta the way. Don't need no more senseless deleting crap around here. Not accusing you, Mike. But this is helpful stuff you asked me to post so here it is and it needs to stay right here.

I got it up there ^^^^^ If it stays. lol
Thank you, oh, now I get it..lol, nope not going there. But I would like to help this member needing one, I enjoy giving, and as you know I don't do drama. This is a very cool truck build I will enjoy watching

If your going to build something custom, why not hard mount the alt and add a tensioner pulley (spring active auto or manual). Jeeps 4.0's have some really good solution to use as a template.

Got any pics as an example(s)? Could be helpful for other custom applications.

This first picture is off a 97 Cherokee. Note there is no idler pulley around that adjustment screw. This moves the powersteering. I wouldnt recommend going this route.

This is on a 99 Jeep Wrangler, note the pulley in the back ground. Its on a threaded tension rod as shown in later photos.

This shows the hex of the tensioner

Here is examples of 1999 wrangler setups which will go into my barracuda, those who know my other thread know I am hip deep in installing a jeep 4.0 in a 69 barracuda.

With Jeep, becareful as Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler in the same year could all have different routing and setup. Some Grand Cherokees have opposite rotating water pumps. This also gives you a bunch of different ideas as to how to accomplish this.

First attempt at making the bigger alternator fit; big ugly scrap metal bracket.View attachment 1716466063

Love the project!

Are you sure you have enough circumference on that water pump pulley wrapped? I don’t recall the exact number but just based on looking at it I’d be concerned you don’t have enough belt contact there and you’d get slippage.

I think that's his first attempt at it, and mounted it lower with a small alternator.

Thanks! It's going very well, although many walls to overcome. We fixed it with a micro alternator and a homemade bracket.

Not a bad idea. I just didn't mind busting out the static tensioner, and we already had a template from the factory location. It's easy to get to with the hood on, so tightening it occasionally won't be a problem.
