I’m replacing the original single barrel carb with a 4 barrel Aussie speed intake. So I need to change to a cable operated accelerator.
I Bought a Mopar pedal from a v-8 and trying to locate mounting bolt location in the firewall in relation to the old mechanical linkage from the single barrel set up. I’m hoping somebody can post a picture of where the two bolts on the cable pedal setup comes through the firewall in relation to the linkage hole that was previously set up. I’m not sure if the cable should go through that same hole as old linkage or if I need to drill something new. I’ve read they’re supposed to be some dimples in the firewall that help locate the cable pedal set up but I cannot find them. I really think a picture of a firewall showing the old linkage hole and new cable hole along with pedal bolt locations through the firewall of the new set up would really be the most helpful.

Thanks!
Dennis

Should be a notch on the top of the plate that matches up to the bulkhead connector. Slight u- shape right above where the cable comes through

That'll give an index to mark where the holes need to be...

Thanks for the reply.
Hmmm your pedal bracket looks different from what I bought

OK, so I guess if anybody with the later model pedal has adapted to an earlier model A body I’m looking for clues how to locate it? Maybe a picture from the engine side of the firewall showing cable coming through Compared to the old mechanical Rod hole might be the best clue. That really visually give me the best comparable location.

That looks like a later A body pedal and linkage you've got there.
It can still work, but it's not a bolt-in and the dimples would be located for an early a bracket.

Edit: Boy, I type slow. Day late and a dollar short!

Yeah, I can make an additional bracket to help if I need to so really finding the most plausible location for where the cable comes through will let me start to build the modifications needed.

Do you have a bracket on the motor to accommodate the modification?

I don't have pictures, but years ago I used a late pedal in a '66 Valiant. I believe I just centered the cable in the hole, marked the mounting holes and drilled them in.
The cable hole should be offset to the driver's side (from where the rod hole is) and a little lower, oval in shape.

That was my first thought, but then I thought somebody else’s had to do this and maybe they can take away some of my experimenting.

I have to dig up the photos. I had a later accelerator pedal setup with the slant 6 4 barrel....

Look around that round hole your linkage went through. You will see two indents in the firewall. Those are the locations for the studs for the V8 pedal. Drill them through and mount your V8 pedal assembly. I can see one of the indents in one of your pictures.

But he doesn't have the early A pedal, he's got the late pedal.

It's not in there any more... but it did work well
Normally, when you use factory parts.......even if you piece something together it does work well. I just like using the early A V8 pedal in this instance because, my God, the factory indents are RIGHT THERE on the firewall to drill out. Once you do that, it's a complete bolt in factory deal.

Then he sells that and gets the early A V8 pedal mechanism.
I’m thinking somebody has to have used the late pedal before and I’m sure I will make it work. I just thought a picture from the engine side of the firewall and seeing where the cable comes through would just make it easier. I’m glad there’s people willing to help try to figure that out. I don’t really believe there’s a need to buy something different got this one for $2 at the fall fling Mopar swap meet.

Like I always say, you can make anything work. But the factory early V8 stuff will bolt right in and cover the hole correctly. Happy motoring.
