Can you point out the holes? I see nothing wrong here.

The 2 marked round the red.

good gawd what swamp did you pull those out of? if you're gonna run 'em be sure to meticulously inspect them after a very thorough cleaning.

as @RustyRatRod said, those are part of the casting no worries to run 'em.

They been sitting in the desert dirt. When I picked it up. The guy told me it was sitting in the wide open for the rain and desert dirt to ruin them for whole year, the engine and everything sat for.

I wish I could reuse the pistons, but there holes in each side wall on the pistons? What's the rpm range on the hydraulic roller cam if you might know?

I have never floated the valves on any of my Stock build roller 318s, that is with the stock valve springs and retainers too.

I have floated the valves on a stock build '76 360 though. Working up through the rpms, then she nosed over on the higher rpms and fell flat on her face...

I don't see any major problem with them. There can be some minor casting flaws, that all they do is hold oil.

Time to get your hands dirty and put that bad boy together.

Yeah the neighbor was just telling me those are oil holes. My neighbor just got back from California, he got some machine tools that we can do from home to do all that the 87 block needs.

Put in a new stock oil pump, along with the new bearings.

The main bearings are brand new from Summit. I put in another same number 318 crankshaft that I have to see if I get .003 or a different number with this crankshaft to see I got something wrong.

Both same number 318 LA crankshaft with brand new main bearings are giving me .003 on the plastigage. Is that correct spec or is not? The torque spec for the main cap bolts are 85 ft lbs correct?

.002-.003

Got any oil on your crankshaft and bearing inserts or are they dry?

At least get a film of oil on the crank journals, that can make a difference on your plasti-gauge read out, the way it spreads out.

Piston numbers 4323311 are you guys able to find anything on them by any chance. Google search isn't being much of a help. I am hoping someone might have some info on these pistons.

Look up the melling spd25. Stock 360-2 bbl replacement (yeah I know it's a flat tappet) almost a dead ringer for a comp 252 without the problems of a recent comp cam at 1/3 of the price
