My bumpers came back from Tri-City Plating a couple of days ago and I just thought I’d let everyone know how happy I am with the quality and the service. Chip Carrier told me it would be six weeks and I got them back in three! They were very nicely boxed and came through in great shape. I was concerned about sending them from Arizona to Tennessee, but UPS worked well both ways. I will be sending them more work in the future. Pictures attached.

Also, I’d like to thank everyone on FABO who recommended Tri-City.

Did they correct all the dents and dings and stuff, too, or did you have to get them right before you sent them?

Those look GREAT

They were pretty clean, but they did make them nicer. Chip told me they do repair bumpers when possible.

They fix everything in house. If there is something they can't fix, they will tell you before going any further. I feel VERY fortunate to live less than an hour away from Tri City Plating.

Look at those box dimensions. Someone that cares... compared to how my 64 Dodge 440 bumper showed up from California.

Chip told me they have their boxes made especially for them. I shipped the bumpers to them in the box my Waldron exhaust (very happy with their exhaust too) came in. This brings up sore point with me. I was going to buy an exhaust system earlier this year from “Brand A” instead of Waldron’s. But they wanted $400 to ship it to me. Waldron’s shipped it for $140 (it would have been $20 less if I let them cut the main pipe in two pieces.) Using Waldon’s box (a very nice, good box) I shipped my bumpers to Tri-City UPS for $185. Chip shipped my bumpers back for $170 in the boxes you see They were wrapped in two layers of really heavy paper with a lot of foam rubber on each end. Even though there was some shipping damage to the box, the bumpers were unharmed. This is a perfect example of a good vendor working to contain costs for the consumer. He could have easily have charged more for the boxes and shipping - but he didn’t. A $400 shipping charge cost “Brand A” exhaust a sale. I could have paid it. I just refused to because I thought it was outrageous. My bumpers are going to live in those boxes until I’m ready to ship them and I won’t have to worry about “hangar rash.” My next set (for my coupe) will go back to Chip in one of those boxes.

I too used tri City Plating for the front and rear bumpers fir my 47 Dodge. Each bumper consists of 5 individual parts. I had to look them over and they were gorgous. Wasn’t cheap but well worth it IMO.

I have never used Tri City Plating, but I have seen them reviewed and visited on many TV shows.
From what I have seen, they would be my choice.

Tri-City did the bumpers on my 71 Demon show pony car. Great workmanship! And Chip was very good to deal with too.

They used to have an old guy that worked in the office...I think his name was Homer. Every time I took a pair of bumpers over there, he was like, "Yep...70-71 Challenger bumpers." "Yep, 70 Roadrunner back bumper." He knew every bumper you could bring in by just glancing at it. I carried the bumpers for my 64 Belvedere wagon over there to get them done. Homer comes out to help me carry em in. I handed him the front bumper...."Yep, 64 Belvedere or Fury bumper." Then I handed him the back bumper, which are specifically for wagons...."Yep 64 Plymouth wagon bumper" I said "Homer, I thought you said it was a Belvedere bumper?" He said "I did and it was....can't help it the *** end of it's a wagon!"

You were brave deciding to have bumpers chromed at a shop in California! They’ve got the tightest sphincters for anything that could have the slightest impact on the environment and we all know how ‘toxic’ the chroming process can be! There are a lot of other states which don’t strangle/handcuff businesses from creating a quality product using tried and true technology.

Unless you bought recently chromed bumpers second hand in California and the chroming was done elsewhere?

Not only that, but I have read that they use a new chroming process that is supposedly less toxic to the environment. I’ve seen some of it and it looks like chromed plastic to me. I’ve wondered if that’s what Snap-On did, because there new wrenches look the same way. They’re made in Wisconsin, however, or used be. All the new hand iron I see looks the same, no matter who makes it. The parts I got back from Tri-City look like the original chrome, only much nicer.
