Yeah, Mopar had it right with solid linkage. It's just so hard to find now.I’m old school, but I’m always leery of those kick down cables.
I try to find and label the sets... but folks are hesitant because of the lack of clear listing of dimensionsYeah, Mopar had it right with solid linkage. It's just so hard to find now.
Yeah, call Keith and ask him about what may be going on.i dont know how to check the pressure at he governor. trans was built this summer by 727 specialist, and has a a&a valve body that has ptkd
OP mentioned builder having heart issues.Yeah, call Keith and ask him about what may be going on. Note: he recently had a heart attack and is recovering.
I've used the Lokar cable system on several of my cars without issue. Works great and makes it easy to change to another carb with minimal adjustments.Yeah, Mopar had it right with solid linkage. It's just so hard to find now.
Yes, Keith talked to me by phone a week or two ago and told me what has been going on with him. Slowly recovering.OP mentioned builder having heart issues.
Same person??
I don't disagree. It can work well. There's just something about overkill caveman linkage you gotta love. lolI've used the Lokar cable system on several of my cars without issue. Works great and makes it easy to change to another carb with minimal adjustments.
The kickdown rod setup needs to be adjusted for the kickdown to work properly. I use a cable setup and it took a little bit to dial it in the way I want it. I abandoned the rod system years ago because the engine is not stock and trying to make things work was not worth the hassle for me.just tying to get this thing to kick down, does not have to be part throttle, although it should, full throttle would be nice
For a stock setup there is no reason to go to cable, but for the rest of us that have changed intakes/carbs the cable setup was a godsend.I don't disagree. It can work well. There's just something about overkill caveman linkage you gotta love. lol
Did the kickdown ever work or did you just get the transmission installed?i had to use the cable as i have tti headers and 408 engine
yepDid u have someone push the pedal to the metal and u checked that the kd was all the way back? Kim
thats how i did it,this is why im asking if it could be something in the transCan you provide a picture of the bracket/cable attachment to the carb? Unhook the plastic kickdown connector from the carb lever and push the carb to wide open throttle, then pull the kickdown cable to meet where it would attach to the carb lever. Can you pull the cable further than the linkage connector for it goes?

Try shortening the cable a couple of turns. The kickdown can kinda be sensitive to the cable length. Once you get kickdown then you can fine tune it to come in just as you like.i dont have one at the moment the carb is off
Ok that was a good starting point. Now shorten the cable some to see if that helps.i have the throttle bracket that comes with the bouchillon kit that mounts to the carb.the travel of the carb matches the travel of the kickdown cable .1 !/4 " i believe.
rick, thats the issue i cant get it to kickdown. the lever at trans is all the way back.i cant adjust it back anymoreTry shortening the cable a couple of turns. The kickdown can kinda be sensitive to the cable length. Once you get kickdown then you can fine tune it to come in just as you like.
I understand. Adjust the cable at the carb to shorten the cable. For now don't worry if the carb goes all the way open. We want to shorten the cable to bring in the kickdownrick, thats the issue i cant get it to kickdown. the lever at trans is all the way back.i cant adjust it back anymore
