727 will not kickdown

-
I've used the Lokar cable system on several of my cars without issue. Works great and makes it easy to change to another carb with minimal adjustments.
I don't disagree. It can work well. There's just something about overkill caveman linkage you gotta love. lol

just tying to get this thing to kick down, does not have to be part throttle, although it should, full throttle would be nice
The kickdown rod setup needs to be adjusted for the kickdown to work properly. I use a cable setup and it took a little bit to dial it in the way I want it. I abandoned the rod system years ago because the engine is not stock and trying to make things work was not worth the hassle for me.

i got it installed this summer, once in a while when floored it would kickdown.but would be very delayed.hammer the throttle and it would accelerate then after like 3-5 seconds 2nd gear would kick in but not very often. most of the time it just accelerates in 3rd gear.ive adjusted the cable numerous times with no luck in finding that spot when it would shift properly.

Can you provide a picture of the bracket/cable attachment to the carb? Unhook the plastic kickdown connector from the carb lever and push the carb to wide open throttle, then pull the kickdown cable to meet where it would attach to the carb lever. Can you pull the cable further than the linkage connector for it goes?

thats how i did it,this is why im asking if it could be something in the trans

i have the throttle bracket that comes with the bouchillon kit that mounts to the carb.the travel of the carb matches the travel of the kickdown cable .1 !/4 " i believe.

Try shortening the cable a couple of turns. The kickdown can kinda be sensitive to the cable length. Once you get kickdown then you can fine tune it to come in just as you like.
rick, thats the issue i cant get it to kickdown. the lever at trans is all the way back.i cant adjust it back anymore

I understand. Adjust the cable at the carb to shorten the cable. For now don't worry if the carb goes all the way open. We want to shorten the cable to bring in the kickdown
