Coils springs, shackle kits, bushings, ubolts, front eye bolts and front end chassis parts ship within a week. Usually 1-3 days.

NOW FOR THE SAD NEWS

Leaf springs are currently about 4-5 months lead time.

Due to not being able to keep up with leaf springs, our ages, the rising costs and the labor involved with leaf springs, as we run out of inventory they will be discontinued.

As they are discontinued I will try to update on website and Facebook.

We can still do most vehicles so unless you see your car listed below please email laura@springsnthings.com or send a message here.

We are NOT going out of business just discontinuing leaf springs as we run out of inventory to do them. We are still doing bushings, eye bolts shackles, ubolts, front end parts and coil springs.

If you have an order in with us it will be shipped in the timeframe you were given although it’s possible it will be a couple weeks later than quoted for orders placed in August and September because we had more open orders than I thought originally. I apologize In advance If It Is a little late

It is only new orders we will not be able to do for the following cars and are now DISCONTINUED:

American Motors
1968-1969 AMX HD and Javelin HD, standard are still available
1970 AMX HD, standard are still available. 70 Javelin HD is still avalable.

Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth
1964 Fury, Savoy, Sport Fury
1964-1965 330, 440, Polara, Belvedere, Satellite
1966-1973 6 leaf HD or 6/7 440/Hemi B Body Dodge Charger, Coronet, Plymouth Belvedere, Satellite etc (5-leaf still available for 6 cyl, small block and 383)
1970-1974 6-leaf for 440/Hemi E Body Barracuda and Challenger (5-leaf still available for small block, 383 and AAR/TA)

Ford
1965-1973 Mustang most of competition handling and heavier ones. We can still do most of the standard ones.

Mercury
1967-1973 Cougar - standard and competition handling

Pontiac
1954-1958 Pontiac Star Chief (28 series)

It's a sad day at ESPO. We hope to still do business with you on the coils, shackles, bushings, bolts and front end chasis parts along with the leafs that are still available.

We hope you have a great rest of year and holiday season!

Sagging springs, coil & leaf, can be re-set with heat treatment.

Yes and it also doesn't last.

So, if the heat treat and re-arch is done to the same level as the original spring forming it SHOULD last just as long as it did originally. The metal shouldn't care if it's the first time or not if it has truly been "reset" appropriately.

Now, having said that, if the re-arch and following heat treatment isn't taken to the necessary level (time, heat, re-arch spec, etc), then you are correct, it will not last as long.

Ultimately, it depends on the spring shop doing the work.

Well, FINDING someone as you said to do it "correctly" and with the proper know how will cost as much or more than new leaf springs. BUT, if new ones aren't available anymore, then there you go.

Exactly. Just finding a spring shop to do it is hard enough, finding a spring shop to do it properly is another level entirely. As they say, your mileage may vary.

We got lots of great spring shops around here thanks to being on the I5 corridor. It’s about $385 to r&r a set of springs.

And a truck shop probably has the best odds for finding someone that actually knows how to do it right.

Of course, $385may also be getting close to buying you a new set of springs, depending on what you're looking for.

Poorly worded, but A-bodies weren't on the discontinued list.

Evidently, there's not another generation interested in carrying on the mantle for that business. That's the real sad part.

Rumor has it, this place (John R. Spring Service, Inc. Leaf Springs) is where ESPO purchased the leaf springs.
Interestingly, I just called JRS last week about a set of springs. The gentleman (who had been working there forever) said that they never made springs. The springs were purchased and re-sold from places like General Spring (in Kansas City I believe?). Oddly, he also told me they don't even sell springs anymore and recommended I give General Spring a call.

Who probably gets them from General Spring. I have a suspicion that GS is cheaper than everybody else because they are the source.

thay may be the case.. if i buy from pete i get the spec i want right off the bat without having to go through an entire catolog and hope to get what i want..

Interior covers and panels for my 62 Dart came from a local upholstery guy who closed shop.

Radiator fixs, heater core fix, for my a-bodies from ACME Radiator, been around forever, back when everything was ACME for first place in the phone book, I think.

No one to take his place either.

Craftsmanship and the people who do it are disappearing.

Sort of like when I bought Dana rear from Dr Diff. Dr Diff tells Strange what to build instead of a dummy like me trying to figure it out. Then rear shows up it bolts right in and everything works like it should

You must’ve called John R Spring and Tire, they’re a different store.

The one I went through John R Spring service must be closed, their numbers don’t work at all.
